Anyone got banned for reporting AFK?
I would say that depends on where they are Akitteng.
Let’s say Dragon Bash, hot-join and tournament.
There’s no good reason to do it. All you are doing is wasting ANet’s time. It’s not a violation to be AFK (AFAIK). Therefore, at most they will investigate, determine that the person is AFK and not do anything. If you do it enough, they may ban / suspend you for false reporting.
That said, I once reported someone that I thought was a bot with a faulty script, but now that I think about may have been AFK with an automatic action on a shout. I didn’t get banned.
you really didnt think this post out op
if someone said i was banned and im useing this account to say it
they’d lose the dummy account cause its against the rules of pritty much every game ive ever played to side step the original (perma) ban and if there x time banned they cant post anyway till its over (prob would want to keep there heads low)
without a dev giving numbers or the actual guidelines (doubtful to ever happen)
you will never know
i also doubt any players that dumb to want to lose there other accounts for x time period and want there hands smacked that badily
(there are people that charge less than the box price for such services)
if…if there was hand smacking going on it’d be for x hours 72hrs as a numbers been thrown around in the past but for afk’ing naw doubt it only people that got banned…banned was the exploiters from the start
i personally viewed people reporting afk’ers as a bot a pointless waste of supports time
they prob have a if people report y for x amount then it’ll get a support workers ticket to be looked into cause i doubt support could keep up with it if its one report at a time and if the system was flooded with false reports….no future nice things for you
It’s really up to Anet to deal with this. They need to announce that Akitteng in a PvP match is against rules. They then need to set a timeout timer, that boots people for not moving x amount of time. Once this is implemented, it becomes clearly a violation of the rules when someone just jumps once every minutes to avoid that timer. At that point, have a new report type added called “Akitten PvP” and let people report that. Bam, problem solved.
Nothing worse than having a 4 on 5 match cause you have 1 person sitting at the entrance watching American Idol instead of playing.
According to the GW2 Code of Conduct, you can have your account suspended or terminated if you use the report function to file false reports.

Specifically item 21.
So you should be careful about what you report people for. Those people hanging out Away From Keyboard in the Dragon Ball game are not botting. So I would not recommend using that as your report category.
In my opinion (not approved or sanctioned by ArenaNet) you might could report them for griefing (inappropriate behavior) since what they are doing is interfering with your game play. But the problem being that since they are doing “nothing” there is no chat log or anything to back up your claim.
Edited to fix the “Akitten”.

I’ve never heard of someone being banned for going akitten match ups
In GW1 when someone entered a pvp area with intent to gain points without playing, it was called leaching and you could report them That system is not yet in place in this game.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Report_a_player
Leeching
Reporting a teammate for leeching gives that player 2 dishonor points. If at least half of your team reports this player, a further penalty will be applied preventing any faction or XP gain in this match. If, however, a third or less of your team reports this player, you will also be given 2 dishonor points for issuing an unsupported report. Players with 10 or more dishonor points are temporarily prohibited from participating in PvP.
WARNING: Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned.
That unfortunately depends on other players reporting the leecher, otherwise it’s you that ends up with the dishonor points (and a temporary ban). It’s better to have a system where standing around doing nothing never rewards the player.
I did actually really like that system in gw1. And if your team didn’t back you up in reporting the leecher, you were still fine. The dishonor didn’t kick in immediately, you had to make an unbacked report a few times in a short amount of time to actually get the dishonor.
Also, it was definitely not the same as a temporary ban. It was just a debuff that made you unable to enter any pvp matches for a certain amount of time. No big deal, unless you were running in RA reporting people all over the place right before you’re due to start a monthly gvg tournament.
I fail to see how exploiting the system to get achievements and rewards without actually playing the game isn’t a reportable offence. I report AFK botters in PvP all the time, I also quickly add them to my block list.
