Anyone miss Heroes from GW1?
but I highly doubt it will ever be incorporated.
Well… We do have Destiny’s Edge 2.0.

This game was advertised at one point with plans to have a sidekick option, but it was scrapped.
You can already solo most dungeons. And looking at the stupid ai, henchmen would actually make the dungeon harder instead of easyer.
Also I wouldn’t want them to run around in open world. Too much clutter.
I am currently playing GW1 for HoM rewards and I will say, straight up, Henchmen would server no realistic purpose in this game. So, no.
Henchmen were meaningful in GW1 because the whole game was instanced. GW2 is a true MMO in that the majority of the world is open. Only personal story, which is 100% soloable and dungeons which are intended to be group content are instanced. In both cases Henchmen are not intended for the content.

who cares about henchmen? I want my heroes back :P
[who liked koss? ane\y Melonni fan out of there? Dunkoro? Tahlkora? Master of Whispers? Margrid? Livia? that ritualist girl from luxon clan? anyone?]
EDIT: and how possibly I could forgot about Zhed, Vekk, Ogden the stone… ah wait :P

discussion about offensive/deffensive playstyles
I want them for dungeons. That’s about it.
I miss my heroes that I completely kitted out and set up their skills. I had a multi Necro/Ritualist Minion Master build that had swarms of minions running around all the time. It was great.
However it wouldn’t really fit this game with the non instanced maps and the NPCs in this game feel dumber, or else they just can’t handle this games combat mechanics.
ANet may give it to you.

Henchmen no, heroes yes
But we can all agree as amazing as customizing your heroes was, it destroyed the multiplayer aspect of GW1 real fast
Yes and No. Yes because I liked the things they said. No because they where not that bright AI wise.

Yes, I should have specified that I am including heroes when speaking of henchmen as well as both only being limited to dungeons & fractals.
I don’t miss my heroes at all since I still play Guild Wars 1 a couple times a week.

I doubt a hero party could handle these dungeons. The AI doesn’t seem smart enough to handle enemy AoE effects. Just imagine a party full of Logans or Traehearnes fighting a boss.

That’s what the flags were for

I know. But the few dungeons I’ve been in were pretty active. Melleing the boss then dodging out to avoid AoE then back in to melee again. Or there is AoE places all over the floor when ranging. That would be some pretty fast and fancy flagging and the Heroes would stop fighting and run through more AoE when trying to reach the flag.

I would love hero’s for the dungeons and fractals.
As i hate it getting a pug together only to lose some within 5 mins as they have to have there tea or do something else instead.
At least with hero’s i can do it at my own pace.
as op on this topic ask the question about henchmen and heroes. it would be a most welcomed add to the game. and i for one would not have the need of people at all. for any thing. and it would only improve this game even more. and make it possible to do pretty much any thing in the game. even tho i know it will not happen . but i will say it would be a great improvement to this game with out question .
I wouldn’t miss them as much if the NPCs in story missions were actually competent at fighting enemies. The combat system in GW2 requires much more mobility but NPCs typically run up and attack and die very quickly. In GW1 I could count on heroes and henchmen to not be swinging wet noodles.
In Vino Veritas
No, heroes & henchmen were great in GW1, but this game hardly has any incentives to party up & build communities, it they ever introduced them that would be the death of the multiplayer aspect. If I want to play single player games there’s much better offerings out there
