Anyone want to replay personal story quests?
I think that they may do this when they add in Season 1 of the Living Story.

Ah yeah, I really hope they add in Season 1 for us newer players. I haven’t touched Season 2 at all yet because I feel like I would be missing some much needed context.
On a related note, I remember talking to a bunch of Lionguard and NPCs who kept heaping praise on the unparalleled beauty and majesty of Lion’s Arch, but when I finally visited I was greeted with miserable ruins and was just staring at the place like “wat”
Yes, we need replayable Personal Story and Living Story (S1).
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

I’ll give you all the context you need.
About a year after the fall of Zhaitan, we get word of this crazy Sylvari chick doing some weird stuff and making a nuissance of herself. We team up with what is essentially “Destiny’s Edge: The Next Generation” (Zojja’s protege, Eir’s son, a gladium Charr that Rytlock knew since she was a kitten, and a couple of humans).
We track down Scarlet, find out she’s doing some insane research with leylines and dragons, went over the deep end, tried to blow the hell out of Lion’s Arch, then we killed her.
That’s pretty much season one in a nutshell, and I never even played it myself. :p Do yourself a favor. If you’re waiting to do Season 2 until you can go back and replay Season 1, don’t. Just go and enjoy it now. There’s lots of nifty rewards and some of the missions are pretty fun.

From what I understand, I can play Season 2 anytime I want since I logged on when they made the episodes available, so there doesn’t seem to be any rush. I wish they had a way of implementing that for Season 1.
It’s something that they’re working on, but it’s a long ways off yet. Still, they definitely said it’s something on the way (eventually).

Guild Wars used to have the function to be able to replay key missions, and is a function sorely missed. Personally, not having that functionality in Guild Wars 2 when they had it previously confused me. I enjoyed Claw Island and was really annoyed that the only way I could play it again was to either make a new character or having to play with someone else.
Would love to see the replay options!
Nah, if they beefed them up to be more like missions in GW I would but as they stand, I click skip asap.
Odd how the story missions in the mmo GW2 are less team involvement of players than the argueably non mmo GW.
I played countless missions with others in GW but only one time I ever dragged a person, a guildie into my GW2 story and that was for the Clor Island mundanity.

I’ve always wanted to be able to replay them, or at least see the cut scenes again. The caveat here being that I want to replay the original, un-cut version of course.
Living Story 1 is going to be tricky to adjust for replay. Some of the stuff was designed for open world and nothing like either the Personal Story or Living Story 2. I just don’t see how it could happen without inventing new stuff to resemble what was going on.
Not to mention they took the two things which could have been a decent story instance (Molten Facility and Aetherblade Hideout) and turned them into Fractals.
One thing about the personal story is that you’re almost always better making a new character, not necessarily for the obvious reason.
The end of the personal story is actually a web of interaction. Different bits of it come from different early personal stories, and you’ll never know about it, unless you actually do take another character up through the story.
The easiest example is Professor Gor. If you’re not on a specific personal story quest line, you’ll think he appears out of nowhere, but there’s a whole history with the game. Same with several other characters at the end of the story.
The more races/stories you do, the more the end actually starts to come together.
did ANET say anything about this? if not, wish they would
Anet said they would make personal story replayable but it would take some time since PS wasn’t originally designed to be that way.
I would not, because everyone – except Trahearne – is dying.
Chars: The fluffy Flapsi (Ele), Fipsip (Mesmer), Flappo (Necro), Fenix (Engi)
i really do hope to replay my personal story.
Except that Personal Story is full of choices that affect how it plays out. They’d have to disable these choices in order to preserve the progression. And what about rewards? Should players be rewarded every time? Should the reward be reduced on repeats?
Personal story replayable by the same character, not really going to happen. Living story season one, probably will be brought back in some form, won’t be the same as the first time around though.

You have to watch out for it because unless you remember the names there’s nothing to tell you they’re a reoccurring character, but it’s one thing I really enjoy about the personal story.
I was very happy when the Gear Warband from my norns early story and one of my asuran characters College krewe showed up in Orr helping my human with the Pact missions.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”

And the Grenth priestess from the third chapter of the Human storyline . . .

I think it’d be pretty cool if they let you go back and choose different options to unlock the other missions. For example, I chose to escort Demmi out of Lion’s Arch, but I would like to go back and choose the other option (to use a distraction or something) without having to create a brand new character.
Quests that have already been played should not offer any rewards when replayed because the feature is simply for people who want to relive those experiences. For missions that the player has not completed, however, it would be nice if you’re still given something upon completion, but honestly I wouldn’t really mind even if there are no rewards to be gained whatsoever because for me the real reward is to experience the story (and see Tybalt again!).

Honestly, I would LOVE to see an achievement system implemented with PS content like what’s been added to LS2. You get to go back into the story you’ve already finished, do some oddly specific things, get a little reward for it.
I don’t think it should be anything major, of course, but I just like having small little incentive achievements like that. Makes it more fun for me.
EDIT: This way, they could also lock it off so that you don’t get the standard quest-complete rewards from replaying them, no matter whether you already did that line of the quest or not. (IIRC, when you get to “choose” which mission to do next, the rewards are always the same no matter which you pick.)

The Flashback system in City of Heroes let you go back and replay old missions, and you could set various parameters (time limits, no inspirations, etc.) and earn badges for replaying them.
Surely some aspiring asura could come up with something similar here in Tyria.

Ooh yeah that’d be pretty sweet, to make extra difficult versions of the quests for you to replay and gain some sort of reward/achievement.
Quite frankly I would love to have the option to replay both all personal story missions (of course no unique rewards for replay, just regular loot)
and the ability to replay ANY living story event regardless of when it was released or even if you missed it or never finished it.
There is tons of content of living story I never got to finish, and entire chapters I just entirelly missed, I hate it as I am a player who loves the story aspect about this game rather then the grinding, dungeons, bosses, vista’s and so on,
the stupid part is you can do every dungeon endlessly, every world boss endlessly, you can keep reviewing vista’s 24/7 if you want to, but you can’t replay your personal story nor living world, its a real big blank hole in the game if you ask me, if it was possible to replay literally every living world event that has existed over the entire course of the game (obviously lowered in level to a solo campaign as obviously not every player will be going to replay the story’s, and you might end up completely alone on a map)
But IF it was possible to just replay all that and get all my achievements I was never able to get along with seeing the story so I will finally be able to make some more sense of things then I would most likely spend my entire day replaying living story events instead of slaying world bosses XD
Sorry for Bumping, but I really believe in this suggestion, it would really put some life back into the game for players like myself who love the story (a dying breed)
