Anything I can do to help?
A receipt is the first thought. He should have registered an email address that was his as well. But if he doesn’t have the access code and he doesn’t have a receipt, those are the two proofs you’d normally need to get access to a game that you’ve purchased.
I’d open another ticket and take it higher.
I make it a point to put all of my cdkeys in a document on my desktop and save them as time goes by. Idk why people don’t do this, but your best bet is to send in all available info you have even if it seems irrelevant.. after all, you’re only asking for a name.
Not sure how good ANet support is now but back in GW1 I forgot my char names on a yearly basis and they fixed me right up after I sent them my acc info and all that good stuff. Didn’t and still don’t have my GW1 keys either so it shouldn’t be required.
Just give them all you can.

Yeah, so did I. Unfortunately my brother did not…

Sorry, without any proof, what can you do about it? He could easily say that My account that i paid with my own cash is his account, but without a receipt, what proof does he have? It is 30% off currently, but if he quit before, I highly doubt he won’t quit again. =) This game isn’t for everyone. I personally play the hell out of this game. Definitely worth 60 bucks, and I paid for gems recently to support A-net to continue on. Got myself the Molten Pick! >=)

Do you by any chance have him on your Friends list? Back from when you both played together?

I do, in fact he played so little time that I am likely the only person on his friends list.
Then from there, you can definitely get his name. For instance, Yours is Conncept.7638, In your friend list, he should have something like that too. Name.4-numbers.

Oh yeah, we have that, footballguyy.7135, the problem is they want a character name to prove that he’s actually been on the account before and created those characters. And we don’t remember any of them.
Maybe open a ticket and ask them to send an e-mail to the person who owns the account?
They’ll have an e-mail address for the account so it’s not like he’d be able to steal the account that way.
I was thinking about that. Does your brother NOT use his email for the game? Really? I use my gmail, and if I click Forgot Password, they’ll just send it to me. 0_0

Could be a time related issue. Account has been inactive for several months now. Could be ANet trying to make sure accounts of players who have left don’t get hijacked.
But the one with the email, if not receipt, controls it all! >=( That is definitely the last resort. Hi seera =)

Yeah E-mail really isn’t all that secure, the whole point of forced password changes and all the security nonsense ANet makes us go through is so that when people manage to hack your e-mail they can’t just e-mail ANet and be handed all the necessary information they need to steal your account on a silver platter.
But, I think I may have made some leeway… someone at support is letting us just receive an email to reset the account information, let’s hope it doesn’t ask for a character name or CD key…

I’m sorry, that is the only other thing you could do. But if you do find another way to convince them, please tell me =) I reallly would like to know how it was resolved. And I wish you guys will get your account back =( I would be disappointed if that happened to me.
If you are into “fate” and “destiny” stuff, then the game is just not for him. LOL

Got it! That let us reset the account without issue.
Nice! Glad it worked out for you!
