April Fools: Bobble Heads
Good Job Anet you got me on this one. Totally unexpected and the programming for the head to actually bobble is amazing!
I also want an Endless Bobble Head Tonic!

AHAH this gave me a good laugh. Nice one…
Good thing April fools wasn’t my call. I would have set it up so everyone’s first drop on the 1st would be a precursor. The kicker is that it is secretly a fake precursor. When the player tries to equip it, trade it on the TP, bank it, or use it to forge a legendary it would explode, damage all your armor and then turn you into a bobblehead.
WOW – people – lighten up. We play games to have fun!
I think the people complaining about this little prank need a time out from ANY GAMING – JEEZ!!!
Why is this not part of the “feature patch” when every other thing / change was put to it? You just made pvp unplayable for this day. Thanks for ruining it.
…and here my mesmer was blaming the Inquest and their experiments…

Can’t even see anyone mentioning this on the forum xD
I believe it was mentioned in the Black Lion forums yesterday.
Tanith, awesome screenie!
Personally, I loved it. I only got to be online for about 10 mins this morning and I used all my time to take a bunch of screenshots. Hopefully I get a chance to post some up later tonight.
Thanks for the laugh ANet
Well played guys well played. We were escorting on of our commanders on his lvl 22 toon through sparkfly so we could have some fun with Teq. Along the way we decided to stop and kill a champ on all our lowbies… needless to say we were holding our own until about 9:50pm when the bobbleheads showed up. We were laughing so hard we completely wiped XD. Not to mention giant bobblehead Teq and bobble head Wurm bwahahahaha!

It just sounds to me as if a very vocal minority, want something taken away, simply because they dislike it. My attitude is, you get Normal play the rest of the year… you can spare one day for those of us, that like this sort of thing.
How the hell would ME being able to turn off seeing Bobble Heads affect YOU in any way?
This seems to be the point that most of the ‘get a sense of humor’ brigade are spectacularly failing to get.
Personal favorite – Find a moose in game.
You think thats fully get a princess doll tonic…. I didn’t think the thing could get any more obnoxious XD

Please allow us to turn off the stupid bobble heads, i tried to endure it for a few hours but i had enuf, i almost want to throw up completely. I don’t even know why a prank like this is encouraged.
I for one have had a splendid day~
I am highly amused and I haven’t even had a chance to run around looking at stuff. I have afternoon work today that I have to leave for any minute, and once that’s done I have groceries and dinner and a movie … so sadly I’m only getting a taste of this. I did a lot of screens of my characters but haven’t been able to go out in the world to see moose and such.
One super nice part of this is that the faces get the level of detail and rez one normally only sees in the creation screen. It’s a great chance to get good shots for portrait reference!
what a crappy idea. total dislike. dont like it. i see the joke, but a forced joke upon us is foolish not funny.
ESO starts to get more and more attractive.
// EDIT: ok i see log off and log on turns it off. at least something. it´s ok if others like it. have them see the world in that “funny” way, just dont hassle me with forced premature jokes please. thats in my eyes a form of customer disrespect.
an option would have been to have 1 hour bobble head after the login and introduce some tonics for those who like the effect.
by that way ppl would have a good laught with the effect wearing away after some time but leaving it to the player control to extend the effect.
taking away control about appearance or length (even if the effect doesnt shows now on my client, you still control how my character is shown to the world) is a form of disrespect. full stop.

I decided to see what Destiny’s Other Edge looks like. Braham, Taimi and Rox crack me up!
I had to re log in three times, and change locations three times. The first time it worked for me was when I went into the Heart of the Mists.
So many humorless dotes walking about like brain-dead zombies.
If you can’t handle bobble-heads for 24 hours, then may God have mercy on your wretched soul.

This was literally the BEST freaking thing I have ever seen!!! My guild of abt 10-12 people were fighting in WvW at South Bay (which we didn’t own). Tough battle against a very tanky hammer train. I think they had like 6 guardians and 3 warriors, 2 mesmers and an ele.
We finally started whittling them down after maybe 20 minutes, and then our zerg came out of bay (had capped it while we were battling)… They steamroll the group, and JUST before the chaos ends BOOM! GIANT HEADS! LOLOLOLOL!
We spent so much time ROFL’ing about it that we didn’t realize a group had snuck into Bay and taken it back after a few minutes lol!
Have videos and screenshots. So many hilarious things. MOAS! MOAS look RIDICULOUS! LOLO!
Can we just make a new GW2 region and give all these humorless folks free transfers away?

SO very awesome. Love it. It happened in the middle of a WvW fight last night and we all had to stop and just laugh. Especially at the Yaks…..
Haha an item in the gem store that is a pair of newly-invented Asuran goggles supposed to see into alternate dimensions, but confusingly stuck on a dimension exactly the same but with some bizarre morphological differences?
I’d love nothing more than a screenshot of it affecting Zhaitan!

I know its April Fools day, and I can -see- the humour. However to Roleplayers, this isn’t funny, in fact it ruins roleplay entirely. For people who want to RP something serious/casual or whatever, they cant ignore the GIANT BOBBLING HEADS. I appreciate its just for a day and it will go away once April Fools is over, but seriously. You could have tried something funny that didn’t ruin RP for your community. I mean, people RP in this game constantly. I would understand if this game didn’t have such a good story and an active RP community, but the fact is it does, so you should take that into consideration next time. I didn’t find this funny and I think as a company you can do better.
Just to ask, what’s a ‘dote’?
Forced Humor simply won’t work for some people.

Just to ask, what’s a ‘dote’?
A term for a nit-wit or a dope. The technical definition is: to exhibit mental decline of or like that of old age.
It can mean other things but, for the purpose of this post, it’s the definition above.
Strange I’ve played asuras since open beta and I have never had a bobble head.
warrior and we’re the best class” Eugene
Forced Humor simply won’t work for some people.
Who needs to change? The person forcing a temporary, innocent joke? Or the person who can’t adapt to handle it for 24 hours?
Aren’t humans supposed to be able to adapt?
You could have tried something funny that didn’t ruin RP for your community.
Oh jeez, you’re lucky to not have played GW1 then. April Fool is a tradition for Anet.
Guild Wars 1
2007: Gender reversal
2008: Players transformed into stick figures
2009: everybody transformed into a chibby version of Gwen
2010, player’s size changed to miniatures and miniatures to player size
From 2011 to 2013 and onward, there is a playable Terminator-like quest with a soldier from the future available in a zone. Nothing major affected.
As you can see, it could have been worse to your immersion. It’s Anet’s way of celebrating the day. It’s a shame if you can’t handle it.
Hubba hubba! Look at this sultry bobble head Mesmer!
Such elegance! Much grace! So alluring! Wow!
2009: everybody transformed into a chibby version of Gwen
Oh man, I wish GW2 would get a bit of Gwen-chan! XD

Get off your high horse. You’ve been pranked, deal with it.

Greetings from Earth. Where every country has had it’s share of suppression and genocide.
Bobble-heads, for a couple of hours, in a video game? Opposite end of the spectrum.
All I can say is…be thankful it was your grandparents/great grandparents that dealt with WWII, because you wouldn’t be able to handle it.

ESO has sto- I mean…Borrowed a Lot from gw2… and tried to act as if it were a bunch of new ideas it came up with… the dynamic events, the 3 factions in wvwvw… type combat…. it may have a few original ideas…
From what i have researched, the graphics Look Like kitten. And…it has a Monthly fee, for the crap you get.
But hey, if you wanna go play ESO… have fun, can i keep your stuff?

Its ok if i smashed your window with a rock then?.. because hey its just a prank. But just deal with it right?
This is cute and funny, I’m definitely logging in this evening to see the bobbleheads.
But the REALLY weird thing is that the GW2 engine has the capacity to globally change the scale of just one body part for so many different models and NPCs! It makes you really wonder what other bizarre capabilities it has.
Its ok if i smashed your window with a rock then?.. because hey its just a prank. But just deal with it right?
You can’t seriously think that’s a valid comparison.
I was running around Vigil Keep (normal) and then warped to Rata Sum….
Ya, the first thing I thought was “Oh, cute glitch” and then busted up laughing at all the little bobble headed Asura…
So far, I think the best was a little Hylek minipet… when they walk, their heads wobble side to side instead of up and down… cracked me up!
Good job, ANet!
This is a fundamental power abuse by the Devs; by playing an April Fool’s “joke” on the community, when the community is not able to do so on the Devs.
Poor judgement Devs, very poor judgement. You can prank them too though. I’ll give you an example.
You: “Hey devs, I’ll buy gems!”
Devs:
You: “April fools!”
Devs:
The developers do not get payed more if you buy gems, they get payed the same. So unless the game is going under, it doesn’t matter if you buy gems or not.
