You can just do the 3 jump puzzles in LA every few days… no need to leave LA for that one

This time you need to do 12 different ones. Still relatively easy – i used it as an occasion to get some more jp achievements i have ignored so far, but it’s entirely possible to just go for easy ones.

Actions, not words.

The monthly w/ choice was a step forward. The OP wants to take a step back. This month was easy in WvW? So what? people have been complaining since launch that WvW players have been left out in the cold. Seems like a monthly that favored WvW was due.

Every other month, there is a thread or two complaining about how hard it is to get the monthlies done, so this is a refreshing change. Actually, if someone truly finds this month to be too difficult, can you make a topic about that? I want a screen cap of those two threads, side by side, so that God can facepalm so hard he destroys the universe.

But seriously, you have to ask: what is the purpose of monthly achievements? Are they some kind of kitten contest for hardcore gamers, to challenge just how much game time they can cram into a month? Or is it an optional bonus with some form of semi-guided suggestions, which is limited to being attainable once per month? I’m tempted to say the latter.

I would like to see a Super Duper Monthly that gave 1000 laurels and took so much time to complete that hardcores wouldn’t have time to spare to post complaints about easy content.

They would still complete it in a week.

Don’t disturb me, I have a cat in me at the moment.

they made it so people stop complaining about how difficult is to get laurel and instead start to complain now how easy are to get.

I look forward to when we can complain that there are too many ways to get them too!

Geez, I’m drowning in laurels here! I log in, here’s a laurel… I switch weapons, I get five laurels… every toon has all the ascended gear and unlocked every dye… what’s left to spend them on?

Therefore I may take some time replying to you.

April was made too easy for the portion of players who already frequent WvW and do Fractals on a daily basis. Not so easy for the rest of us. I’m glad for the variety, but I wish there were more daily/monthly achievements that rewarded NORMAL PvE world play. A problem with the current mix for dailies/monthlies is that it’s more about making players jump through not so fun hoops, rather than encouraging and rewarding the type of game play that keeps players interested in the game and the game world.

With three of the four things you need being events, veteran slayer and daily achievements for four days, all of which are easily done in standard PVe, the fourth one is a choice. If you like dungeons you do fractals. If you like WvW you kill players.

But even if you like neither of those, there’s still jumping puzzles, a part of PVe, or at very worst case scenario you can recover audio logs. In fact, if you combine recovering audio logs with events and veteran slayer, and even the daily, you can often do them all at once.

Monthlys are supposed to have “some” form of challenge to them. Admittedly this month they’re particularly easy for people who do fractals or WvW, but honestly, they shouldn’t be that hard for a PVe’er. It’s a lot of reward for relatively little work.

I completed the new monthly achievement on April 2nd at 10:44 pm MST. Here’s a screenshot. I think the Monthlies should take longer to get. I wasn’t even tring to complete it, I was just playing.

You completed it with 3 out of 150 audio recordings collected? Amazing! How did you complete it without completing it???

It is! I should get laurels for it too!

Maybe a stack of 250 for not tripping over my feet and killing myself in LA.

Yes, April’s monthly isn’t super hard, but it also isn’t really easy unless you normally frequent certain places. I’m never likely to finish the jumping puzzles on any of my alts, I just hate them that much, but its okay because there are other things to concentrate on. I’m not particularly trying, but I might get a few levels of the audio logs done by the end of the month.

One thing I do like is that when events and dailies promote going to lower level areas at least new players, or low level alts, don’t have to face the world alone.

Okay… i’m usually pretty diplomatic in most of my posts but I can’t take it anymore. can people please stop complaining about dailies and monthlies… i can see why some people might be upset about something being too difficult but so flipping what if they are easy?! Sure, you’ll get it a lot faster if you wvw a lot since I can think of at least 3 categories that are perfect to get in there but, and I can’t stress this enough, who cares?!

The monthlys have always been pretty good. If you just play normally, you don’t have to go far out of your way to get them if your a casual. But they still challenge you to go do something different. I don’t like the dailys though, they ruin the game experience for me on a daily basis as I have to go out of the way every day to make sure I get them. I play alot, like 5hours a weeknight and have to go out of my way to do 2 or 3 tasks which can be time consuming. The dailys don’t cater for the average gamer who plays alot less and it should.

This I can agree with. The monthly feels like it happens naturally, some days I find myself skipping the daily because it’s sending me to the four corners of the earth and I only have an hour or two to play.

I actually would like to take this opportunity to thank Anet for the April monthly. It is only the second monthly available to players of all play styles (no WvW/dungeon requirement). As March was the first, I feel confident now that this represents a trend. Thank you!

Yeah, 10 Fractals? Between every person in my guild, we have completed a grand total of 3 Fractals, I believe. We’ll have to get a serious move on on the one day a week when we gather to play for 2-3 hours.

A single fractal run gives you 3 fractals or 4 if you are on the boss one. It’s REALLY easy to get and very fast.

The run I was on succeeded on its first one, and failed on the second, multiple team wipes on the boss till several people ran out of time to play and the party disbanded. I think my guildmate had better luck and got through two of them, which is why I give a total of three. Nobody else in the (small) guild has dared to try them yet, as myself and my friend are the only ones with any real enthusiasm for playing “dungeon” level difficulty content. Hopefully we will find a PUG that knows them better this month, and it will be easier.

Just get one person to try PUGing and learn the fractals. By the time you reach like personal level 3 or 4, you would most likely have already learned everything you need to teach the others. Just make sure the PUG is not posting for level 1-4 cause all the people new to fractals post for level 1-4. Look for groups within level 5-9, preferably even fractals. Having all 5 members doing it on their first time is always going to be difficult. Once your group knows how to do the fractals, it takes like 30-45 minutes to complete all 3-4 fotm maps.

My gripe isn’t that they are undo-able, but once again we are in a situation where dailies/monthlies are killing the world exploration mode of PvE. If I stick to the Living Story zones, which said zones are also usually the most efficient for completing dailies, I’m sure I’ll complete the audio logs portion.

However, for me the most amazing and compelling thing about this game is the massive, beautiful game world. Before dailies, I was playing GW2 more like I’d play Skyrim. Now, I find my guild, most of whom are long term MMO vets with limited game time, just want to stick to Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau to complete their dailies and I find little ground to argue against that strategy.

Did we really need monthlies to even further reinforce the idea that we are supposed to really only be playing the game in a pair of game zones?

I think it’s good that fractals and WvW are part of a list of monthlies to chose from, but IMO both dailies and monthlies need to offer paths to completion that can be achieved in a reasonable amount of time by just going where ever you want in the game world and doing the PvE content there.

The goal of these systems should be to reward players for regular game play, rather than rewarding them for spending their game time jumping through some very restrictive hoops.

Not that restrictive. I finished my monthly by doing Daily Completionist, which took me everywhere, Veterans, which I can find everywhere, events — again, everywhere, and JP’s, which are found — wait for it — everywhere.

I see nothing wrong with ANet putting in an option for periscopes for those people who are going to spend a lot of time doing living story stuff.
