cmon arenanet, this has been around for ages now and it’s a gamebreaking issue. yet we have received no fix and not even a word on it.

the problem why it’s gamebreaking is that is very hard to find people who want to do arah legitemately and if you do, many are inexperienced bc they don’t do the instance that often the way it’s supposed to be done.
let alone the spam in the lfg tool, which couldn’t be more annoying.
it also devalues the arah armor/weapon skins, bc there used to be some effort required to get them. now every noob can buy them without being able to do arah properly.

Devs have said that it’s ok to sell dungeon runs if they were done legitimately. It has been done since GW1 and frankly I see no reason for them to suddenly change their viewpoint on this.

Also if there is demand there will always be supply.

I don’t see this as a game breaking issue. It’s no different from any game where people get carried through content.

Join a half-decent guild. My guild runs dungeon night as one of the 6 weekly events each week. People can request dungeons they want to run beforehand including Arah exp paths. We’ve gotten many a member sorted with their Dungeon Master title, including myself.

Also members are not allowed to sell Arah runs in g-chat, so the few path sellers in the guild will often fill any slots they cant with free runs for guildies.

I can see your frustration trying to get groups for that content but it isn;t the people making money to blame, it’s the lack of support from a community that’s hindering your progress here.

It literally takes a few seconds to fill a group. Make a post yourself don’t just wait for someone else to make one.

There is nothing wrong with path selling either, if there’s demand for it then there will also be a supply.

if that was the case, I wouldn’t complain. But as described before, the lfg tool is litered with spam by sellers and finding decent players has always been a drag for arah, bc many just fail in this instance. But the very fact that they can circumvent it buy buying the gear keeps them being bad at the dungeon and makes finding good players worse.

furthermore, there is no logic behind your last statement. obviously there is a demand for the tokes, bc the skins are very neat and there is a reason that they are in an endgame dungeon, that is harder than the other ones. buying them lowers the dungeon to cof1 level difficulty-wise.

ok so you say, other games are broken too, bc players can skip content there, so there is no problem with gw2 being broken? that logic.
Being carried through it dungeon without it being broken would usualy be like taking 3 to 4 experienced players carrying 1 inexperienced player through the dungeon and doing it how it’s supposed to be done, which is totaly fine. But in gw2 you just come in to loot tokens.

That is because the “decent players” are tired of carrying ng players. It wastes their time to have to constantly wait, res, and redo things thanks to inexperience. Its not inherently a bad thing, but why should “I” carry ngs when I put in the effort to learn the dungeon and they just want a free ride? The equalizer for that is, ok, for a little coin, I’ll be willing to put up with it. You are ng? That’s fine, you can compensate for that with some gold. You can still easily get a group with ng players and given that your group has enough patience (something most ngs don’t) you will make it through.

What advantage is there for me to run with a bunch of ng players when I can just 2 man with a friend and make some extra coin, faster than we would with 3 ngs tagging along? That is why you will continue to see spam.

Also, I sound like an elitist, and I sort of am, but I’m all for teaching people who ask for help as long as they are willing to put in the time and effort to learn, which is the number one cause of ng.

@crysto

you are 100% right. I don’t expect people to ignore the fact that this is possible. players always use the most effective way to do something in games, you can’t blame him for that. but this does not change that fact that it’s a broken mechanic and needs to be fixed.

Best thing to do is advertise for a group for a FULL RUN rather than selling a path. Yes, there will always be a market for selling a path, but if you want to run the whole thing, I am sure you won’t be the only one who would be willing to spend time and energy doing it. Not everyone wants to make a quick buck and skip everything. Some people actually want to DO the content.

As someone else has said, though, instead of waiting for one, start one yourself. That way you also have control of the instance.
