I’m leveling up my mesmer. I’ve been going through the level 15-25 areas recently. The past few days I’ve been trying to complete my daily achievements as they’re basically a guaranteed level up. Unfortunately in 2 hour playing sessions I’m struggling with finding Dynamic Events to complete. We only need to do 5 for the daily, but it’s a challenge to even find that many. Perhaps I just don’t know how to trigger events, and I certainly don’t know where the trigger locations are unless I see an orange starburst orb over someone’s head.

I found 3 events in my last play session (2 hours) and thought, “Okay, since I can’t find a more in this map, I’ll go to a starting area where events are probably triggering more.” Turns out after about 30 minutes I could only find 1 event. I didn’t want to play anymore, so I didn’t finish my daily. I spent more coin that I wanted to on waypoints in those areas just looking for events. Is anyone else having trouble finding events in early level areas?

I’m not sure…maybe its just bad luck or timing? When I’m logged in, its hard to do the heart quests or anything else without seeing/running into/participating in dynamic events. Could be a server by server thing too I guess. I’m on Devona’s Rest. Give it a shot?

Most events are random or triggered by other means. Hence the name “DYNAMIC events”. These events mean that players have to do something in order to trigger them.

Do you have map chat on? On my server people will call out when events are starting, especially the more popular ones.

No, I don’t utilize map chat. That would be helpful to do.

I just find it surprising that tonight I uncovered probably 90% of a map (Snowden Drifts I think it’s called) and only came across 4 events, 1 of which I couldn’t do bcs it was a champion I am unable to solo.

The arctic areas (Shiverpeak Mts) seem to be the most deserted. I like them, but guess most people don’t. I’d recommend moving somewhere more populated, like any of the other three areas. Kryta seems to be the most crowded, although they all seem active enough, most of the time. Which seems to mean more frequent events.

It’s just weird timing, probably. I played through Mount Maelstrom in an evening, working to 100% the zone and only bumped into maybe two or three events. When I wandered over to Bloodtide Coast to start on that zone’s achievement, I’d sometimes have several NPCs calling me over at once to inform me about events all over the zone.

Also try talking to NPC in camps and such. Sometimes this can start event. But ya 4 in two hours seems really low. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so low.

I’m also having regular trouble finding events and a couple I’ve found have been bugged so that I couldn’t complete them. Its really kind of frustrating, I’ve played for several hours today and only run across two events.

However, I’m not seeing a lot of other players on. Maybe the events only trigger for higher player populations?

It can vary greatly, and I do think that events happen more often if there are more people around. Some days I have trouble finding them and some days (usually just after I complete daily quests!) I run into them all the time. I would agree with above recommendations to watch map chat if you’re having trouble, and use it the other way too – if you come across a champion mob, mention it in map chat in case someone else wants to come and help with it.

For me its just luck. When I started my Charr character, I found events left and right. They were popping up like candy in the starting area and I leveled fast, without touching my personal story. Other times, its a lot harder and it can get frustrating.

There’s a few zones the events are a bit too spread out IMO. Kessex is one of the worst offenders and is within that level range as well. There seems to be a few “focus” points where the events happen fairly quickly and on repeat; yet the rest of the zone seems empty.
I agree it can be frustrating at times so I tend to find and stick with those “focus” points and ask in Map if anyone has any other events they can hot link too.

Course, later Hot Linking events isn’t a very good idea if we’re trying to save gold for better* gear; Waypoint costs are too high and bouncing around just drains the coin faster than the rewards will make them worth while… but that’s another issue.

*Better could mean stats or look/design depending on personal preference.
