Long time ago, chest rewards were not effected by magic find because Anet didn’t want players to put on mf gear just for better rewards. Gear no longer has magic find anymore.
Does magic find, right now, effect chest rewards?
I would venture to say no.
The official word is no, but there are those who would argue that point.
Case in point, I’ve defeated the Scarlet holo far more times than I can count. For all those times I have not gotten a Scarlet’s Kiss or any good drop. Meanwhile, another person on our server has been doing it frequently too. Yet, he just received his 4th earlier today. His magic find is maxed out and I’m about 130%. So either MF does affect chest or A/B accounts exists. I believe in both actually. Oh, and he wasn’t the first person on map to be claiming to have received multiple Scarlet Kisses already. Either way, I left LA after being kinda disgusted with the games RNG. Once again it leaves you feeling pretty bad after a while.

No. In fact, Anet seems to move more and more rewards into chests specifically to avoid MF affecting drop chances.

300% MF is 4x drop chance. 130% MF is 2.3x drop chance. If the difference in drops was MF related (and not just a byproduct of high variance RNG), for each 2 Scarlet kisses he’d have received, you’d get one.
And i am not even going to comment on the “lucky accounts” conspiracy theory.

If you cant count past 240 (~max attempts at Scarlet since release), you shouldnt argue the rng difference between 130% and 300% Magic find.

I just think that your sample size is much too small (even if you killed her 200 times), to demand a rare drop. If those rare items would drop every 100th kill, those rare drops would have been devalued massively.
