Are gold sellers legit?
No it’s not allowed. ANet has just told us to report them and that they’ve been thinking about solutions.
No, not at all. Most of them will even attempt to steal your account or credit card.
No, gold selling is not allowed.
These gold sellers:
A: Use bots to farm.
or
B: Hack accounts and take the items and gold there to use.
They are scum and you’re doing right by reporting them.

Thanks, I thought it was not allowed, but I didn’t want to harass GMs for something I was not sure
The very first thing I do EVERYDAY when I log into the game… is to click the mail icon and DELETE all the mails sent by them gold sellers.
If you buy some gems from the Black Lion Trading Post and then open up the second tab and trade currency you’re essentially buying gold, but you’re buying it from Anet. Never, ever buy it in any other way!
The spammers are often using hacked accounts and everyone should report them every time they spam. Make sure to report the ones who send you mail as well, since they added a report button now.
“visit my website” leads to “make an account to log in” which often leads to “lol he used the email+password for his GW2 account” which then leads to your main, standing in the LA overflow, screaming “visit my website”.

Some reason I haven’t been having problems with the mail, but I hear a lot about it lol.
Aside from all that was mentioned: goldselling is illegal because goldsellers are making money from ANet’s copyrighted content.
That is exactly why pirated servers ask for “donations” instead of having “item malls”, even though they give items “in thanks” according to how much you give them in “donations”.
ahh i hack your account and steal all your dollar! peas dont report me…i give you best rates! 10 gold…500 dollarrrr
But seriously…report them asap, or this games economy will erupt. It’s hard to believe people buy gold from someone in game with real cash…but it happens.
In the wiki it is mentioned GEMs can be bought via real money or in-game by other players. And it’s fine.
But is gold-selling allowed? I see people spamming “enter www.blahblahblah.com best price x € per 100 gold” or something. I report them for spamming. Am I wrong doing so?
This is because Arenanet charges your cc and gives you gems. Gold sellers charge your cc, steal your account, sell your items and turn your toons into bots that advertise their services because their last batch of bots have been banned from the game.
If you like throwing money away, and don’t want to play the game any more, feel free to use their services.
Really, if there are any real goldsellers that don’t just scam accounts in order to turn them into spambots to get more accounts and actually give you the coin you paid for, then ANet shouldn’t have a problem tracking high-value mail sent by goldsellers and making sure the economy does not “erupt”. I mean – if they had the capacity to hunt down every last person who bought 21-karma stuff and say how much every single account bought, it shouldn’t be a problem to say how and where from did a person get several, unexplained, Gs.

I don’t think these exist, and if they do, they don’t stand in the center of Lion’s Arch going “Safe and fast GW2 Gold! Hand-leveling power farming! Safe and fast you trust me!” and various other things in broken English.
It’s not allowed but obviously accepted by ncsoft for hours on end by the same ingame players.

They never will have a solution. Look at gw1.

Interestingly though, there isn’t an option in the report window for RMT messages.
I’m always torn between botting & spamming – as a single message technically isn’t spamming and it may not actually be a bot. But I go for one of them each time.
in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.
Congratulations ArenaNet!
I still can’t understand how goldfarmers operate in a game where you can buy it legitimately. Im sure there are always going to be some really really stupid people out there.
Oh and fyi, if you buy gold, you are funding account hacking, botting, exploitation and anything else a goldfarmer does to make money, so don’t buy it unless it’s from the cash store, k silly beans?

Yup because murder happens therefore the police allow that too right?
(edited by Bastion.2457)
The police doesn’t have an all powerful database, containing everything from a whisper to a shout. The police doesn’t have a “because I say so” ruleset that all game developers have. The police don’t have any real power over anything – they just arrest people and kill if they are unable to arrest and do a pile of paperwork. GW2 team doesn’t need any paperwork: they don’t like you – ban, you have no right to say anything on the matter. GW2 devs could cluster-ban the goldsellers and care nothing of collateral damage, the police have no such luxury.

I don’t know about GW2, but these do exist in many other games. It’s usually people with low income who get into gold farming jobs to sell those.
