Are most sylvari armors skirts on males?
Yes, most have a robe/skirt element to them. http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/sylvari-light.htm
Man so disappointing now I am stuck with boring and smelly humans.
The human males wear the same armor models that the Sylvari males do.
Not like there is any thing under those skirts to tell male and female Sylvari apart.

Sylvari actually have respective reproductive organs but they just cannot produce offspring. Just there for fun and giggles. :3
Call it a kilt, problem solved.

If you want pants for your light armor character I recommend running Ascalon Catacombs a couple times. The light armor, for male if not female, is a leather-like pair of pants.
I’m using it on my Charr elementalist to very pleasing effect.

Hmm maybe I will thanks all. And the light armors look very different on sylvari then humans so what do you mean they are the same?

Cultural armors are different but every other armors set is the same for male human/sylvari.

This. The only armors that will look different are the cultural ones. There are some outfits that look different based on your race, too. But the vast majority of armor has the same model when it comes to male humans and sylvari. Even the norn look the same, just with a larger model.
Cool thanks for the info this helps allot.
Pretty sure just in general all male pants are skirts in the game(i know not all but 95%)
Shopping for clothes is a horrible experience for a Sylvari Male, or males in general, really. They want us to look like ladies in dresses with big butts most of the time. Not enough Pants and Shirts in-game for certain tiers.
For Light you can wear Embroidered Pants, Ascalonian Performer Pants and Profane Pants. Most tops are normal Shirts~ The skirts that actually look awesome to me though are the Carapace Pants which is just a waist wrap, the Primitive Legwraps which are like a tribal loincloth type look~ and racial pants look tribal as well.
Medium has a lot of Pants, some look really awesome which makes it sad that they’ll be covered 99% of the time by your chest piece. Only the Glorious Brigand has no Skirt/Coat, which is obtained through Glorious Spvp Track in the mist.
Heavy has the Heritage Pants, that look awesome on Sylvari, but require GW1 achievements to get. Then there’s Heavy Plate Legguards which can be purchased from NPC at World VS World entrance. Heavy also has my personal favorite chest piece; Pit Fighter; to show off your Sylvari glowyness.

Nah, GW2 is actually pretty good about this kind of thing. Even a lot of the robe type armor tends to be open ended and you are in fact wearing pants.
And of course there are a few armors that are straight up pants. Compared to other MMOs banana dress, I’m quite happy with GW2’s selection for male magic users.
Mixing and matching can get you some really cool looking combos.
Can you get anything that looks like real armor in the wardrobe?

But to answer your question, sort of. There are a choice few armors when combined that can give a kinda-sorta armored look.
There are also a few outfits will absolutely give you a heavy armor look.
Outside of the outfits though, you shouldn’t really expect much of a plated armor look for your elementalist.
It’s a scholar class.

I did not expect to be able to wear heavy armor considering it is a light armored class…

The point is GW2 is a skirt overdose. I don’t like such armor and have few options. I posted all of them that exist in the game. It’s a very small list of 3 light, 1 medium and 2 heavy for Sylvari males. Or 1.5 for heavy, really; since Heritage has a super mini buttcape.

I don’t know what you’re after then. I’m sorry. Hope you find it.

Well, then perhaps it would help to clarify what you mean when you say “real armor”.
