So does this mean we can’t use our current elite specializations with the new ones? If that’s true it seems very limiting.

Honestly I think when the expansion hits the current elite specializations should become basic specializations and the new ones are elite.

If I want to play Glint Rev with a Short Bow, I think I should be able to do that.

If I want to play a Thief with a Staff and a Rifle I think I should be able to do that as well.

I don’t think the new specializations should conflict with the current ones. I haven’t played many of the new classes new elite specializations yet but I can tell you this. There’s no way on God’s green Earth that a Revenant is going to drop Dragon to use a short bow. No way in absolute hell this would happen.

Yes I imagine so given these add brand new mechanics.

It’d be completely overpowered if you could combine two Elite Specialisations together. Basic lines don’t give new abilities like the Elite ones do so the restrictions should remain.

Consider this:

Guardian’s Dragonhunter and Firebrand have their virtues modified in different ways. Choosing both – how would that work? Which would take priority? You can’t have both of these.

Or any profession that has its profession mechanic modified in any particular way.

“He shall make whole that which was torn asunder.
Restore that which was lost. And all shall be as one.”

The entire point of elites is to be able to choose just 1 as they are all designed to bring a unique identity or flavour to the core class. Combining them would mak that redundant and balancing a nightmare.

Many people are looking to drop Glint for Renegade. I personally know a few people including my Guild Leader looking to do just that, because they aim towards differing playstyles.

Right now you have three specialization slots for each character to choose to have active at any given time; three core or two core and the class elite.

Now each class will be able to access an additional elite specialization. You will still be able to play with your original three core specializations or two core + the elite you are used to OR train in the new expansion elite. You won’t loose anything you have already gained.
