In the next few years, or at all? Is what we have now how it’s going to stay? I don’t mind, but I would like to know. =) I’m wanting to create one character for each class and give them a Molten Alliance Mining Pick, but don’t let that sway your answer. ;-) =)

Best regards,
Steven.

No plans yet from what I have read but if the game continues to stay “alive” (which I highly expect it to) we should certainly see more classes/races in the future.

Besides the fact that they added more (classes) in GW1 with expansions it’s just logical to give more variety and ways for the game to add longivity for some of the players (altaholics).

Lastly I would like to say I have 1 char of each class and suggest you DO do it if you were thinking of it anyway. Also don’t forget to cover each race! Have fun.

So how many more Molten Alliance Mining Picks do I buy? They may never be offered again, and there’s only three days left. ;-) I know it’s not worth it to buy if you have to convert gold to gems, but I spend real cash so I don’t mind making a once-off purchase for all possible characters. For a good game, I don’t mind spending the money. =)

Btw: I would like to commend Anet on the Black Lion system – it provides ways to get some extra cool content and support the devs for a good game, without blowing away competitive balance in PvP. And since there are so many Locked Black Lion Chests lying around, it’s a cool lucky dip to buy 5 keys for 450 gems and sometimes even get a key back when you open the Unlocked chest, making the other stuff in that Chest free!

Also, I like the Trading Post too, it’s a well implemented and balanced feature IMHO.

Btw: I have opened 20 or so chests that I have recorded in screenshots, and recorded the amounts of 9 Large Bags of Coins, which I will post on the wiki within the next little while. =)

Best regards,
Steven.

PS: Kudos for stopping the “Tonics in every Chest” problem that happened in the early days. Luckily, the Tonics show up just rare enough to not be worried that you got something that doesn’t really help you in the game much, and is a fun item only.

TBH I only bought one of those picks (and yes I converted gold to gems to do so lol). I also spend real cash in this game and have spent a fair bit so far but wont buy anymore than 1 of those picks. Simply because I play on my main the most and don’t find using the other picks on my alts that too bothersome to do so.

To answer your question I would suggest thinking about how much time you will spend on each of your characters and if it really is that important to have the picks on them or even if it’s worth mining on those chars at all. In the end it’s your wallet that’s left empty or full so that’s up to you lol.

Also I expect but this is only my opinion here so don’t take it as a definate. That they will offer these picks or others similar in the future periodically so don’t worry too much about that. So you might want to think about that as well. After all you might not want to buy every char one of these picks to find out in 3 months time there is a new one with a newer animation and then want that one as well.

Oh don’t you just love vague companies and their plans lol?

Well, the money I spend is free to spend, so as I said, I don’t mind spending money on a good game. =) Maybe I’ll use the ones I bought already on existing classes/races and get any new ones on others, but I take your point. I do plan on playing the different classes/races reasonably often, and I kinda like the idea that they all do their mining/chopping/harvesting thang (don’t you love slang), so they are the all round warriors and adventurers who are self-reliant on getting resources too.

Best regards,
Steven.

PS: Can you give me a link for your engineer build? I looked through some of your posts and I couldn’t find it.

Omg I didn’t realise I had 10 pages of replies lol took me a while to find it even. I blame Anet because I tried putting it in my signature but no matter what I tried it just wouldn’t work.

It’s a pretty old post now but I still use this build with maybe 1 minor change but I think if you are having probs with trying an engi or just want a different view on how they can be a good class/build then I do hope this helps you out, gl.

If cash is no problem then yeah buy maybe another pick or 2 lol. I bought mine simply for conveniance since I play my Engi the most. In future tho I may play my alts more not sure. For now I just start one at a time, get 100% world with him then move on to the next and giving the rest of my love to my engi lol.

3 light classes
3 medium classes
2 heavy classes.

The logical thing that they seem like they’re going to do is add another heavy class, so the safest thing to do (Provided they’re not soulbound, I’m not sure?) is to buy a pick and bank it for a while.

Do you think the Norn Wolf skill is a good elite to have? I don’t really want to make another engineer as I have eight slots for each of the eight classes. I like the Wolf because it gives you some extra melee power and crowd control, but it might be the case that the human AOE heal is more effective. But there is no way to change the race after you’ve created the character as that would mess with the personal story.

In reply to Writetyper: The picks start as Account Bound, as well as Soulbound on Use. So you can buy them for other characters on your account but only use 1 for each character.

Not sure tbh as my Norn is a Warrior. He uses the spiritwolf summon for his elite. I usually prefer summons or in engis case crates. Forms seemed like a waste to me since they were what only 20 seconds or so and gave no extra targets for your enemy to hit.

But then again as I said I didn’t play with them much, I plan to in future tho.

What class is your Norn?

I will say this tho if I had to ever make another Norn tho I would probably go with thief for the thief summons lol.

The Form lasts 30 seconds.

The only thing more illogical than a Norn Engineer is a Sylvari Engineer. <grin> Still, both make sense in a weird kind of way, and kinda what makes the world interesting when there’s all these weird combinations.

So you would suggest the Emergency Crate Drop (Class) Elite Skill for Engineer? Or would you still go with spiritwolf summon (which is available to all characters)?

I forgot where, but they’ve said that they are not going to release more classes. They will probably build on the existing ones, but I believe their reasoning was that adding in a new class would create too many balance issues.

Emergency Crate, Steven. It’s usually an absolute life saver when you get in a bit over your head. Only luck can save you when you get way over your head and we Norn engineers can’t skill that

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
