It used to be that if you represented a guild, it’d get the influence you generated. With favor replacing influence and only obtainable through guild missions (is that right?) is there any benefit to representing a guild anymore (besides visibility and promotion of your guild)?

As far as I know favour can only be earned by guild groups now, so it seems solo players can’t contribute favour to the guild, which is a real shame.

There will continue to be reasons for 100% rep guilds as long as guilds exist in the game; it was never just about chat or influence.

However, on the topic: I can’t see any value to the guild for me to rep; the value to me is whether the guild is offering bonuses or not (and how much chat is going on — easier to rep the guild that chats the most so I have to type the least).

Why in the hell would you join a guild and not represent it? Is it somehow diminishing you to have a your Guild tag next to you? Is it a disadvantage to locate your guildies easier? Is having the ability to chat with them a bad thing? What the heck did you even join the guild? To sometimes represent for 15 minutes to leech some Guild commis? Pathetic.

In any other MMO there isn’t even such a thing as “Represent” you join and you are a full member. Why the heck would you accept a guild invite just to take up space as a freaking person who isn’t fully joined.

You can chat with any of your Guilds, whether you are representing or not. Nothing is really gained by representing, other than bonuses, as stated above. Unless you are doing some Guild-related activity, or visiting the Guild Hall, perhaps.

Given GW2 allows you to join multiple guilds that is my problem with 100% rep,I was in a guild previously that absolutely despised that I was also helping manage a guild solely made up of myself and some friends. Thankfully my current large scale guild is a lot more lenient on the issue so I’ve been able to juggle both fine (the new guild chat is wonky as hell though, I can only see chat from the guild I’m currently repping.

So while I agree with base concept that guilds are typically something you commit to, GW2 did away with that convention and it sucks when people can’t understand why exactly you do as you do with the system in this game.

It’s actually flipped around now.

In stead of you repping passively helping the guild, repping a guild with passive bonus unlocks helps you.

If your guild has, for instance, the 15% waypoint cost reduction, you need to be repping to get it.

The new system is about rewarding guilds primarily for playing and consciously doing things together (like guild missions, or donating resources) rather than passively awarding guilds just for having people log on or rep.

In turn, those guild tags are much more about benefitting from what you put in to the guild, at more effort and cost, than having the tags benefit the guild at little to no effort or cost.

TLDR: you used to rep so you could help the guild. Now you rep because the guild helps you.

So once again, you only activate your represent to leech of guild activities and bonus’s not to be actually part of a thing called a “guild”. Pathetic. why the heck would you join one to begin with?

Lol.. Get a grip. You have no idea what I, personally, do with my Guilds. I was just pointing out the facts.

If one is not representing said Guild, one is not reaping any benefits. The Guild reaps no benefits from a player representing, either. Unless having the Guild tag out and about is a benefit. I suppose there’s that, though I never really pay attention to them, and since they aren’t unique, it matters little.

If 100% rep is your thing, more power to you. It used to mean something, now it does not. /shrug

100% rep is completely laughable now.

Although, I do wish all activities done by guild members both in groups and solo contributed to getting XP.

I think Inculpatus Cedo and Pope Urban summed it up pretty well actually.

Plus its nice for players like me, who as stated in another thread about this exact same thing, have friends who do various different activities and don’t enjoy doing other activities. I have dungeon friends who only do dungeons and fractals. I have RP friends who only do RP. I have my family which isnt interested in either of those things.

Now i can chat to all of them at the same time, so yay!

100% rep guilds are the only real guilds tbh.
I don’t care about joining a guild for some bonuses or other crap. I want to be part of a community that is close.
kitten near impossibly to find that in GW2 thanks to multi-guild system though.

Im glad you enjoy that honestly, but for me, after the multiple guild deaths ive been through i no longer want that. Guild deaths caused by the leaders of the guilds, and their friends, multiple guild splits that i ended up either having to choose or leave.

I know there are other people like me out there too.

If you want that, keep your 100% Rep guild, its not a bad thing at all and it should never go away. But the option for players like me should be out there too, and both can exist cooperatively.

If you would like to reap the rewards and benefits that a guild offers, then I think it’s only fair that you represent that guild.

Exactly. People who are against 100% represent, simply aren’t loyal to their said guild. You are either one of us or not. There is no in between. You cant have the best of both worlds. Or more accurately to this situation ‘best of 5 worlds’

I am against 100% rep, but it is because i am 100% loyal to my own guild.

It doesn’t matter it is 10 player guild or a 2 man guild, its a guild that i loved.
