So umm is this an attempt to get others to stop playing Warriors ?

If the answer is yes there are alot of them, what is the net result of this post ? Is the intent to discourage players to play them, or is it to encourage something else ? Maybe you want Anet to issue class capping per server ?

Oh well just curious what the intent of the post is.

Answer? Yes.
Reason? They’re pretty much the most balanced (read- least buggy) class at the moment. Followed by guardian.

Play your ele, have fun while it lasts, or before the AoE nerf comes in, then make a move onto a warrior or guardian.

Have fun and good luck.

They are an easy class to make Over Powered compared to others, they have the highest health pool, they can be tweaked to produce one of the highest burst damage, they wear some of the best looking armor and have access to some of the best looking weapons.

The females look hawt as a warrior, the males look amazing, some can squeeze out 16k or more spikes with 100blades.

If you are so new tot he game the easiest class to level would be Warrior with a very close second being the Guardian. Also some of those you think are Warr’s might just be a Guard.

A lot of people play the Warrior, as they are one of the most forgiving professions at the moment. You can make mistakes and still pull out a victory.

I would place classes in their prospective categories as such:

Novice Skill Level – Warrior, Guardian and Necro
Moderate Skill Level – Ranger, Elementalist and Engineer
High Skill Level- Thief and Mesmer

People will probably disagree with this, but I am basing this off of forgivibility in combat. Those Novice professions you can make quite a few mistakes and still win, but the High Skill profession will punish you severely if you blow a CD at the wrong time and you will lose.

I’ve dropped my necro and engineer in favor of a warrior. For PvE they are simply the best class in the game. You can use another class but why drive a beat up station wagon when you can drive a Ferrari?

Warriors do the most DPS in the game (PvE) while ALSO having the highest health pool, while ALSO being able to wear heavy armor while ALSO having the luxury of doing some the best (if not the most) single target dps from RANGE. Arguably the best utility due to banner spam and the list just goes on. Class balance in this game in dire. Warriors are overplayed because they are overpowered. Why do you see "LF3M warriors for <insert speed run here> on gw2lfg? Theres a reason and its not because people just think warriors look cool.

Warriors – easy to start but difficult to master. Warriors aren’t OP by any margine especially in wvwvw and spvp which is why they haven’t been touched since the game launched.

Yeah you can use a rifle and get good results but that has to be the most boring uninteresting play style you can choose for a warrior.

After having switched to a rifle build on launch of the fractals, I can indeed confirm that using the rifle is akin to hammering a nail into a wall with just your forehead. Ive tried longbow but the rifle suited my dungeon build better. Great damage but oh so boring to use!

Im hoping for a new ranged weapon for warriors at some point, but im not holding my breath.

After playing an ele since headstart with no alts I decided to start an alt 3 days ago (in prep for the AoE nerf). I picked warrior. I have got him to level 67 in those 3 days and only died once, when I was afk.
After playing elementalist switching to my warrior is like turning on a god mode button. It’s so easy I’m not sure if I like it as it takes all challenge out of the game.

Way, way overpowered imo.

Like ?

I have levelled up using GS and Rifle, which contain no AoE. Both whirlwind and HB are considered frontal cone attacks so would not be affected by an AoE damage nerf. Rifle is ALL single target.

Only thing I can think of that would be affected is axe in main hand for a couple of abilities.

Of course I am not expert on warrior but I don’t see a great deal that affect them. Unlike my main where I play staff Ele and practically every single ability would suffer.

Warriors arent overpowered, theyre just balanced correctly and are easier to play than most other classes. Warriors spam a few skills whereas other classes have to juggle to deal the same damage. Being overpowered, by definition, means having more power and I dont think thats true.

There is a difference between AoE and a frontal conal attack. Both hit multiple targets but both are not AoE. If the attack is directional it is not AoE. AoE by it’s nature effects an entire area (normally denoted by a ground targeted circle), conal attack only affects targets in front of the caster. Drakes Breath can affect multiple targets but is not AoE, much the same as Hundred Blades.

Can I just say that all this worry about the AOE nerf is stupid? Theyre not saying all AOE skills will reduced in damage by —%, theyll look at each AOE skill and decide separately. This talk of conal/AOE/weapon swipes all coming under the same/different attack isnt relevant as theyll buff/nerf each skill separately!

Levelling my ele and levelling my warrior would suggest otherwise. Some boss encounters on my ele took all my concentration and was still 50/50 if I lived or died. Repeating these encounters with my warrior and they are just pushovers with no doubt who the victor will be.

This is also what I am hoping they do. It’s really about time they balanced ALL the classes a little, a buff here and a nerf there. Unfortunately what has been said has simply muddied the waters and led to silly conjecture.

I levelled the warrior just to have a fallback class to play should the worst happen. I fell into that trap in WoW going from vanilla to BC and finding my main useless and having to reroll. Not happening this time.

…you are joking, right? Warriors have more hp and armor than a mes or theif, it’s true, but last time I checked a warrior cannot stealth and casually walk away from a fight like a theif. And while mesmers may not be the strongest choice for PVE they are quite strong in PVP with lots of survivability and utility.

In reply to both of your posts. The thing is, you make that distinction between a cone, aoe, and cleave but does anet? Most warrior weapon abilities cleave. Hammer, axe, sword, mace, and greatsword along and sadly even the longbow (#3 and F1).

Guardians will also be in this same boat. So the question is not what we consider aoe or a cone it’s what anet considers those abilities.

And to the people saying warriors are OP. They’re primarly a melee class, they do not have the utility boons of guardians or the insane burst and stealth of thieves. So in return we get a ready supply of fury and pretty high sustained dps from our weapons.

The one valid complaint people might have is kill shot but in 1v1 or spvp you should never die to it. Although that’s a single target ability so it probably won’t be touched (lol).

Easy to play? Forgiving? My main is a warrior, but I do dungeons with my ele most of the time and I usually get to the point where I rip out my hair when there are 2-3 warriors in the party and all I do is res them and res them and res them! So don’t tell me they are easy to play. They may excell in open world PvE but they are far from good in most dungeons, not to mention sPvP. Meleeing is very unforgiving and going ranged just doesn’t do enough damage. When you see people saying “warriors only” it’s most likely a CoF p1 run and they could probably do the dungeon with their eyes closed. I for one hate to have more than 1 warrior in a party.

As for the easy to play part: the more escape mechanics you have the easier it is, it’s that simple. If you read Archonis’s list backwards, it’s almost accurate.

equip 5 sigs and a greatsword and hit 2. that’s what it takes to win at warrior and that’s what people are complaining about in this thread. It’s a gross exageration, but it does have some basis in fact. You can tell the difference between a warrior who plays like the above and one that has truly mastered their class, but the output in damage is about the same. The only difference is what they do while GS is on cooldown.

Stability, more cond. removal, more control etc.

they do ranged better than rangers, they do melee better than thieves, and ANet has made it clear they will not be buffing the other professions to keep up, and will, in fact, be nerfing many non-warrior professions in future releases despite the immanent irrelevance and utter pidgin-holeing of many of these other professions.

Give me a break, play a non stealth burst profession and then come back to me, so what if you miss a burst? Go stealth rinse and repeat.

With a medium armor and plenty of evasive inbuilt skills, it’s your choice to go glass cannon and be “squishy”, on the contraty it’s not the ele “choice” to be built in survival as we lack the inbuilt defensive mechanism of mesmer/thief, really if you try to play a burst ele and make a single mistake ..you get slaughtered because no stealth no clones and people can one shot you np

I’ve only played extensively Warrior, Ranger, Necro and the damage between these classes seems like the warrior does the most in a flat beat the dummy situation.

Warrior is by far easiest class to play for the begginer. But, take a look at 80. I don’t count CoF and AC as a dungeons, they’re speedclear farmvilles. In other dungeons, being a glass GS no-mind warrior doesn’t profit. In fact, GS can be most useless weapon for PvE warrior who try to reach sth harder than CoF full set. In melee, shield is almost must-have for me, interrupt and great block – these things alone make 1h+shield sets much more enjoyable for me. Yes, we might have largest hp pool but with what cost? Unless specced into Soldier’s Runes we have very poor condition removal, which destroys us. We might have heavy armor, but we don’t have access for such a great boon like Protection. With that boon, even “squishy” elementalist is more tanky than normal warrior. We don’t have that great heals either, mostly used healing skill in sPvP – mending – heals us for about 1/5 of hp pool. Then you can’t tell we have more surv, heals are the same and hp in this game means nothing, it falls down in seconds, boons and condi removal are much more important. When it comes to PvP – you won’t be a tanky warrior, bunker as “squishy” elementalist, or “low hp pool” guardian. Never, ever. Most of the warriors you can see are very simple GS cannons, dying faster than any “squishy” thief or “non-forgiving” mesmer. Really, if you make your opinion based on levels 1-79 and speedclears only… Warrior is probably one of the least forgiving classes, one wrong dodge and you die. With no super-escape oh kitten button. L2P and don’t consider speedcleaners as warriors. They’re not
