According to the forums it looks like they are, but I haven’t seen one in over a month. It makes me a bit concerned that I’m missing out on sweet, sweet loot.

I have got Masterwork and Rare drops, though not many.

Yep. I’ve had three in the last day. Unfortunately not on one of my 80s though.

They do. I saw one in a fractal yesterday. However, they changed it a while back where masterwork do not appear on chests anymore, just the body.

Yep, I got severals from Cursed Shore farming 3 days ago.

I get around 1-2 a day if I’m killing mobs in open world, but generally it’s that crappy putrid stuff if I’m out in cursed shore.

Really? I’ve not seen one of those chests in… well, I don’t remember. Weeks. I just assumed they were gone.

I see them every once in a while, I probably miss some since they are not easy to spot in a crowded area. I try to run though anything I kill hitting F but it is not always possible. Auto loot would be cool but for some reason the majority of games want you to run around in a chaotic area looking for shinnies. Impressively LOTRO introduced auto loot, mostly because of mounted combat difficulties but soon put it into the entire game.

I guess it’s possible I’m hoovering them up during combat or they are obscured by defeated beasties during post-fight hoovering . . .

I had one drop for me, like 2 days ago.

They seem to drop in a higher rate on low level toons. I started an alt a few days ago and I’ve seen more dyes, chests etc. than with my level 80 toons for weeks.

Try putting on a magic find gear and go do the Melandru event chain in Cursed Shore. You’ll probably get 2-5 rares (wooded chests) before even opening the Chest.

They sure do, but you’re not missing on too much.

I got one yesterday, a rare. BUT, I nearly missed it. A little brown chest sitting on brown ground. They need to be 1) a different, non ground color, like pink. 2) they need to have loot sparkles, or 3) have the world loot under them in yellow. Like the interactive rocks, branches and other stuff have. I try to look but almost every one I’ve seen has been underwater, where they are a lot more obvious. I suspect that I, and everyone else, are missing these.

They drop a lot in wvw but that more for supple.

One yesterday in Frostgorge, lol a “rare” large skull. Easier to spot the little boxes on the snow.

I wonder if they could/should make these work like the bonus chests and have them pop up in the lower right side of your UI.

It would be cool if they could add some safe box in LA, where all contents of unlooted chest get ported to, and anything uncollected after the daily reset gets deleted.

I too like it and think it would be nice. But I doubt we will ever see anything like it, as it would make inventory bags useless. No need to buy a bigger bag or extra bag slot…all the stuff I don’t have room for ports to LA.

Unless there was a cap like it could only hold 5 items for the off chance you missed 1-2 things, and reset like you said once per day. But either way, I don’t see it happening.

I believe Wooden Chests are now Rare or better, instead of Masterwork or better.

I generally pick up the loot before the chests fully render. :P

Most of my rares come from the ground, I hardly get wooden chests.

Depending on where they drop, sometimes the chest are underground, and not visible. I know when I’m going sparks at lyssa whenever a wooden chest drops it’s not physically visible, and all I see are the sparkles.

Yes they are, if you got a rare as a drop it would have appeared in a chest, sometimes they are hard to spot.

yeah, i got a few in orr in the last few days. unfortunately, i was tricked into thinking it was good but turns out it was a putrid essence…… god i hate those things. get my hopes up and everything.

Got like 3 yesterday. They are definitely easy to miss though.

Yes, got a [Howl] from a wooden chest and almost fainted.

I usually get them drop and 90% of the time… they’re empty.

No idea. I got terrible loot from the steel chests too.
