I couldn’t imagine every doing this on any other Character. I’m doing it on my Revenant because I love the Herald Spec, and Want to WvW / Spvp on it, but I couldn’t imagine doing this on any of my other 80s, grinding masteries to get hero challenges done, is just terrible game design and it’s not worth my time.

Masteries are account bound, so all you have to do is do the Hero Challenges

That’s tough to say, in a couple months when the 4 maps thin out at 3 and we have the main meta event a lot of the HP will be impossible to solo, and few people wanting to help due to them getting nothing.

Not sure if it is a matter of wanting to, or even able to. But at this rate things are no I will never be making an ult

I think the hero points that spawn champion mobs should be solo-able. That should make the grind significantly easier for alts, since you already have the masteries and can glide from point-to-point.

I also think that 400 points is a bit steep, but it’s not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. I didn’t instantly hit 80 when I started playing the game, and I don’t mind playing a bit to unlock 100% of the elite spec, because the content is really fun overall.

I am in the process of going through verdant blink on about 10 -12 guys. I have others but wont use them there.

Once i get through that, I will find another zone. Auric Basin bores me so far, so I stopped moving through the story to punch out my alts. I dont have main in any case, so wevs.

None of them will prolly ever complete the 400 though, lol.

But they do get something, quite a bit actually. The event reward (champ bag plus map currency from what I saw) is daily, and each hero point champ awards a good bit of map event participation, too. They also give good mastery experience from what I saw.

The hero point sure is a big reward, but once you’ve got that those champs are still decent boss events that are at least comparable to the infamous champ trains on the old maps.

Would I do it on multiple characters all in one go, grinding them out ASAP to have everything unlocked so I can start complaining that there’s nothing left to do? No, of course not.

But I have 6 permanent characters, a 7th planned and general ideas for 3 more after that, so over time of course I will be repeating hero challenges, and a lot of other content.

This really, really bears repeating. Getting HoT hero points can be frustrating right now, when you find them locked behind things like Exalted symbols or Hylek poison fields, but once you’ve mastered those things, it’ll be much easier for alts to tear their way through the HoT maps.

Don’t get me wrong, it’ll still take time, and the large number of group-oriented hero challenges will only prove themselves sustainable with time. I think everyone’s first elite spec is going to be the most difficult by a long shot, however, because you don’t already know where things are or what to do, and you don’t have all the tools to do it with.
