Dungeons lack fun and engaging mechanics

Im currently lvl 53 and have only been doing 3 dungeons so far. Sadly the first 3 dungeons haven’t lived up to my expectations. I really hope dungeons get better as I lvl because right now they feel like a big zerg-fest whith little or no mechanics. Some bosse literally takes 10 minutes of non-stop beating, which would be okay if they were fun…

Right now I feel that hardets part of dungeons is staying awake…

I enjoy dungeons a lot. I’ve never felt like the were “zerg-fests” at all, except maybe the first or second time I ran AC and all we did was respawn rush the bosses until they were deal.

The dungeons encourage you to play cohesively, as a team, and for everyone to be thinking on their feet, adapting to the situation and always playing at their best. The dungeons never really become routine for me, even having run some over ten times now, there’s always that chance that something will go differently and we’ll have to react accordingly.

I think a lot of people became way to used to just “mechanics” in dungeons where each boss was a mini game instead of a genuinely powerful and difficult enemy. Its fine if you like that, but I think it’s cool that the bosses are just hard enemies you have to react to instead of a list of “stages” you react to by rote.

So yeah, I really, really have fun running dungeons and can’t wait to do more.

Having a lot of fun in dungeons.

I think most of your problem comes from doing them at the lower levels where most everyone is just a spec that’s more focused on themselves than group utility. At 80 I’ve seen plenty of organization and understanding of mechanics. I haven’t had a Zerg fest since lower levels.

I really enjoy them, if you go in with a team that synergizes well it can be really fun.

Dungeons are fun with teams that know what they are doing. With bad teams, the dungeons tend to become a tedious task… However I do agree that the story mode for the dungeons need to be more unique and provide better experiences. I think people are tired of seeing the same mobs that do the same actions.

I’ll agree that some of the bosses are wail-on-inflated-health-bar-for-15-minutes yawnfests, but I quite enjoyed the fights with Alpha in Crucible of Eternity, or the experiment takedowns in the same. Fun mechanics, good balance of “why won’t it diiie” and “better move fast or I’m downed and dead” that keeps the blood pumping.

I don’t like them right now. For one it’s hard to just find groups. I can’t do story mode because there aren’t enough people. Most are focused on just the explor.

I feel like I dont know how to do my traits to do well. I get downed constantly. I roll, I switch weapons, I bring the best buffs I have, I attack the target as everyone else, and after a lot of dies we manage to clear it, but honestly I’m not having much fun.

I find them frustrating, the camera is annoying in tight corridors, I get bored of the enemies with giant health pools, and I find the difficulty curve massively inconsistent. I don’t like the feel of story tie-in between. It’s distracting and feels shoehorned, and overall I feel that dungeons is some outdated mechanic made to please WoW-crowd folks who screams of challanging content. I would much rather have had near impossible open world dynamic event raid bosses that would take months or years to get down, than these instanced.. whatever.

I enjoy them, especially when I don’t encounter any bugs I would agree with you on the point of some bosses having too much health and/or armor and taking forever to kill.

Other than that (and a bug here and there), dungeons are fun.

I have fun but I don’t run them all the time. I only go when they need a warm body ( my guild) to fill a spot. I like the challenge, yes I admit they can be a pain and frustrating. I’m getting to the point to where i outlive a lot of my comrades in dungeons due to knowing where traps/aoes etc happen as well as dodging out of trouble. For me I refuse to make any game mechanics a job any longer.

We can make ourselves miserable, or we can make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same.

I enjoy them. I think people are generally having too high expectations with them, and don’t consider that each dungeon has a story mode, and three exploration modes. And that each of these four modes have at least three bosses in them. So that’s over 90 different boss fights ArenaNet had to make, on top of everything ells there is to do in the game (that still doesn’t have a subscription fee). But many players forget this, and just demands more.

I have fun with them for one run per path a day. Then my reward gets reduced to a 3rd of the original and I no longer enjoy it as much.

Rewards motivate me. More reward = more fun.

#LoveArrows2013, never forget.

I’ve done one explore path and as far as I’m concerned, I’ll never do another dungeon again. I ran with my guild, who know what they’re doing. All of them have been running dungeons for a few weeks now. It was absolutely miserable. No thank you. I’d rather spend my time leveling alts, which is borderline blasphemy for me.

No. The run went fine. A couple deaths here and there because it was my first time, but nothing out of the ordinary. I just don’t enjoy the random chaos. It was tedious and mind-numbingly boring.

I’ll enjoy dungeons more when people stop trying to ALL be the dps glass cannon.

What should happen in my eyes …

2 tanks
2 support
1 dps

2 tanks because 1 there are No Aggro tools in this game so you need another guy up front to try to catch the mob on his all to frequent Argo swaps, and 2 to spread out the damage absorbed since there is a lack of decent direct heals in favor of groupwide support.

( ideally for me a banner war and a guardian would be up front, guardian because of his natural tackiness and he poops healing and support, and banner war because of the insane amount ofcombo finishers a war has and banners are OP ) (ironically the 2 heavies are tanking )

2 support oriented guys
( ideally a Mesmer and a engineer, Mesmer because of ether combo fields, illusion of life, feedback, and time warp, null field for conditions, or phantasmal disenchanter, swap what you need between fights, anet made that easy to do, engineer, mostly because of elixer gun, the#1 skill is permaweakness and bleeding, the #5 skill is a light combo field, thus FREE healing and condition removal, between these 2 guys that’s a lot of conditions and almost max stack of bleeds,)

( with these and the war/guard, you have the mob permanent weakness, frequent or perma protection up front, and frequent sources of AEGIS or blind)

Lastly just 1 glass cannon, and he can spec some decent utility also if he wants,

My theory is damage reduction first, healing second (gw1 protection prayers ftw)

The holy trinity was in fact removed in the sense there’s no class with specific roles, however it was replaced with

Tank (nearly any class can do, however no Aggro tools exist)
Support ( all classes can do via utility slots that CAN BE SWITCHED ON THE FLY BETWEEN FIGHTS)
Dps ( all classes can do)

That is a new and BETTER trinity as it takes more active and aware gameplay, healing is still needed, but damage reduction/avoidance skills are all but required support now, and you just heal the little bit that gets through. The dodge mechanic is great for non-tanks to avoid damage until the Argo gets back on a tank.

Yes I’m aware the holy-trinity is gone and my theory crafted setup reflects that. The news flash for guild wars 2 is that you dont need to search endlessly for a specific class since all classes can respec easily and perform most roles, minus the healer, I’m so happy the healer archetype is dead

I have fun in dungeons but do know I mostly do them with people I know (in game not in RL) and I do not farm them. I do believe some day I will farm for tokens and will become trivial, but for now they are challenging and fun to overcome for me

Cancer is also a Zodiac sign.

No I find them very boring, and lack luster. I grinded all the skins I wanted had very little fun doing so and will not be going in one until revamped or new content with some fun, challenging content is put forth
