the game asks you if you are SURE you want to log out when you click log out, but when you click exit to desktop, it apparently assumes you are CERTAIN that’s what you want to do, so it instantly closes your game without any chance to cancel it.

now, sometimes, im clumsy, and i move my mouse on accident when i try to change characters, or on certain occasions i have even accidentally hit esc instead of f1 or ~ and then went to click and hit exit to desktop. My proposal is simple, either add a pop-up asking if we are sure we want to exit the game, or maybe add a small timer after you hit exit, giving us time to cancel.

tldr: add a pop-up, or timer in case we accidentally hit the wrong button, so our game doesnt close instantly. (after all, we already ave those pop-ups for every other thing in the game)

Please don’t add a pop-up to ‘Exit to Desktop’. I am sure when I use this option that I want to exit, and I expressly use this option to avoid the pop-up present elsewhere. Thank you, ArenaNet. =)

yes, and when i ACTUALLY intend to use the option i mean it too, but the whole point of the pop-up is in case you click the wrong thing, which is why there are pop-ups if you hit salvage on exotic gear, or when you go to log out, or when you go to choose an order. i have had this problem happen multiple times during important events where i hit the wrong thing and whole game closes, it kind of presents a flaw to their system of forgiveness for mistakes. i know i wouldnt want to misclick on one of my exotic pieces like a foefire’s essence, or illya, and have it disappear instead of asking if i was sure i wanted to salvage it.

does saving yourself 1 extra second really make a big enough differene that you would rather save that second each time you log out, instead of maybe saving youself from closing your game during the end of a dungeon, or during a world boss, or wvw event?

I would highly recommend you stop making the same mistakes. Usually, when you’re in a rush, that tends to have unwanted results, such as MFing a Precursor because you didn’t double check what you were doing.

Slow down, and think about what you do. Player mistakes are not the responsibility of Anet.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

Personally I would make red the" log off" button in character selection screen while the “Play” button green and a little bigger.

Not sure about this, people rarely read pop-ups, if both exit to desktop and logout have a pop-up people will just rush and press the button before noticing they clicked exit instead of logout.

Either way, they haven’t even fixed the lack of warning when buying something “unique”, I doubt they would do anything for this :/
