Just found this in Lornar Pass!

So is this part of the regular gameplay, or can we expect some news regarding this? :P

I’ve found more places like that. My guess is that they’ll use this for future expansions

Hummmm, it leads to an Asuran Gate!

Well, it seems like the portals in the Priory/Whispers/Vigil bases are supposed to link up to the 3 gates in Fort Trinity. I don’t know if it’s just fluff, or if they actually plan on having them work but just ran into some kind of issue, or decided against it at the last minute.

seems all 3 story area have that. I thought it would be an asura gate to lions arch/or Trinity as a bonus to completing a faction story but nah.

Maybe it’s a bugged feature?

When you get far enough into your story quest (towards the end) then you can use those gates. I don’t know exactly when they open, as I didn’t remember to check before I had finished my whole story line.

It’s used later in the personal story. No spoilers!

It’s explained that the 3 portals in Trinity go to the 3 Order bases during The Battle of Fort Trinity, so I would assume that it’s just that and not new content.

What I’m curious about is the door in Lion’s Arch guarded by the Tengus and the other door in the Quarry by Ebonhawke.

and the fort in brisban guarded by lvl 80 champions.

I have not seen that, but I’m going to check it out. Where in brisbane?

Maybe you can only use it if you’ve completed the story quest at Fort Trinity and you’re a member of The Priory. I know the one at Vigil Keep let’s me travel to and fro no problem.

May have something to do with the downed Asura gates in lions arch.

The gate with the tengu in lions arch is there due to them not really knowing were there gonna stand atm with the other races, as for the gate in Ebonhawke it leads to the crystal dessert which we could go to in gw1 and at some time might be going back to later on.

They link up at For trinity so you can travel Frot trinity → homebase (vigil, priory, whisers) whichall are convenietly close to LA where the rest of the asura gates are. so you can save some coin by walking between the gates.

Someone has been skipping the cutscenes in the personal storyline!

That specific gate, as other people have said, opens up later in your personal story.

The gate in Ebonhawke leads to the Crystal Desert, which will almost certainly be expansion content.

Same with the Tengu gates in Lion’s Arch and Caledon Forest; they lead to the Dominion of Winds, the Tengu homeland. Given the size of the area on the map, I’d say it’d make a perfect place for a racial starting area

Apart from those, there is a whole bunch of non-functional Asura gates under construction in Lion’s Arch, which clearly indicates they have at least a half-dozen or so future locations planned.

No it’s like that by design. You can travel through them later on in the game. It’s to prevent players who haven’t reached that part in the story or whatever to travel to that spot because it’s near the end of the game.
