Hi, I´m a nearly 22 year old student from Germany and I started playing the GuildWars franchise on my 14th birthday and I´ve been playing ever since. With the release of Guild Wars 2 alot of long term friends I made through the game stopped playing, but that was okay because I quickly met new people in a new guild and it´s awesome community. Guild Wars 2 was vastly different from it´s predecessor, but I could feel the hard work put into it and enjoyed it either way. One main problem the game had however, was the lack of endgame. There were no elite skills to hunt, no maps to uncover, no areas to vanquish, no titles to strive for. Living story season 1 and 2 were a nice compensation, adding to the lore and the superb voice acting made it very enjoyable. The little things such as super adventure box or the arena net staff singing bash the dragon, are what stick with me fondly. It gave the impression of motivated people working on a game together they thoroughly enjoyed playing themselves.
I´m not expecting much feedback on this post, it´s just for me to let off some steam. What happened arena net? These days all I do is stand in lions arch and talk to members of my guild, if not for them there would not be much point in logging on. Now that living story season 2 has finished it is understandable that player activity will drop a bit, but is surely to rise back up with the expansion Heart Of Thorns. Atleast that´s what I thought while I was jumping up and down in my chair excited, watching the twitchstream covering this awesome news. Recent news and developments have deflated my excitement quite a kittenanging the wallet system and guildinfluence into new currency may be well and fine, but I can´t help and wonder why Arena Net puts their effort into changing a system that isn´t even broken (wallet has been changed once already). Why are they covering multiple news updates of how awesome it will be to glide and jump on mushrooms.? Why is all I read on Dulfy.net 4 blogposts feeding information about guildhalls in tiny droplets, posted in a single day. Instead of 1 post that will say: here is how it´ll be. ? It all feels wishywashy. Instead why are there no hardline facts about the expansion, now that pre-order is available. How many maps? How many new dungeons? What else is new? All of these questions put my loyality and love for Arena Net to a hard test. Now comes the real dealbreaker for me. No extra characterslot for the 50 Euro expansion. FIFTY. For an expansion. With NO +1 characterslot. As an officer in a 500 person guild alot of decisions we make effect our guildmembers and we always think about how they will react and take this into consideration. Thus I cannot understand how someone can come up with this idea. How can someone at Arena Net possibly not think: " Hold on a minute. People need the deluxe Edition, which costs 25 Euros more, to get an additional character slot( among other things)? This surely will cause alot of spite, I dont think we should do this guys." I want to meet the people in charge of deciding what and how information gets released, look them in the eyes and shake my head sadly. What happened Arena Net?
