This new event celebrating the Lunar New Year is focused solely around Arena PvP. Why weren’t there options for PvE and WvW included?

Inb4 anyone who would argue that it is an arena pvp event I would point out that there’s no way to get the daily done OR earn AP without participating in a Dragonball.

There’s a lot of us who dislike arena pvp in GW2 because it’s kind of like playing paper, rock, scissors when it comes to the RNG on which teammates you get.

It’s a minigame event with a slightly in-lore reason to be happening now.

I understand that many people don’t like Dragon Ball, and so this ‘festival’ is extremely lackluster. However, I think this complaint would be similar to complaining that the WvW Tournament did not have any PvE or PvP options for getting achievements. It’s simply an event for one subset of players, as the WvW events are.

What WVW event?

I wish people would stop validating this dragon ball crap as an ‘event’…

It’s pretty garbage, I’ll agree. It still irks me that “Daily Activity” is considered PvE.
It’s not PvE, except during Wintersday’s bell choir. That daily should fall under PvP, to more closely match its play type.

Many alts; handle it!

It’s not even the main daily, the main daily is still there. This is bonus AP. And believe it or not, the whole point of “achievement points” is that you have to “achieve” them, you can’t expect to be able to do everything you want and get AP for it.

I know that’s obsurd to actually expect to have fun my way when I play this game. I should have consulted with you on how and where i am allowed to play.

You do need laurels though. And since you can get 1 laurel a day from the event daily you need to play dragon ball.

The best thing to get this done fast is jump into a game and just sacrifice yourself to the enemy. That loses the game fast and gets you the participation credit you need for the daily laurel.

If you dont like that technique… well then dont lock a laurel behind mandatory participation in a bad minigame.

Laurels aren’t mandatory either, and there are other ways to obtain them.

the DB daily is an extra bonus.. it’s not replacing anything.

So they should just add crap to the game, because “we don’t have to play it anyway”

That bell choir achievement was so tedious…can’t even tell you. But it wasn’t the only grindy Wintersday achievement. There were several, as I recall, but I thought that one was the worst.

I vaguely enjoyed Bell Choir, once or maybe twice in a day. The actual achievement for it? Bunk that. I’m not going to play it for hours for whatever measly AP and loot it would give.

The Daily Activities offered in the regular Dailies does not require participating in Dragonball. You can choose to do the other Activity offered in LA. It may behoove you to do Dragonball, as that would be killing one and one-half birds with one stone, but it certainly isn’t mandatory to fulfill the Daily Activity requirement.

My complaint on that isn’t about Dragon Ball in particular. It’s about the misclassification of “Activity” as PvE, when it largely is not, PvE. It’s a different form of sPvP, and it belongs there instead of trying to substitute itself for actual PvE content.

As it is, at least doing Dragon Ball does neatly kill Daily Activity and one round of two for the Lunar PvP Brawl. (I refuse to call it Festival.)

Yeeeah.. Nothing like playing an el cheapo version of Mario Kart, which is one of the games noted for breaking up friendships ( along with Smash games and Monopoly ).
But at least I can win at Sprint, and the music’s nifty~

So reading comprehension time. I never said laurels are mandatory, they are a reward gated by a castrated PUG spvp minigame . I’ll happily feed people kills for 2 games to get this reward. Next time they shouldn’t gate laurels with such a short list of ways to get them. If there were more options of activities where I didn’t have to see the inside of that stupid arena I would do them. But there aren’t.

Why should I give up a laurel/day if I dont have to?

You’re not “giving up” anything.

You’re not entitled to those laurels.

I am entitled to them if I complete my DB daily.

Everyone has the potential to get 1 laurel/day from the DB dailies. Those who chose not to do the daily gave up that laurel.

Why did I bother replying to such a stupid comment? IDK.
