First time I’ve seen Arena Net Staff in game, made my year =) Reminds me of Ultima Online days when you saw a Game Master you were in love. No, he didn’t turn into Jormag and attack anyone, he even died once lol.

Yeah so like they aren’t gods or anything… Essentially the ones you see in game are game testers. They are people that get no special privileges other than an ANET logo. I know this because I have fairly good rapport with a couple of them most notably Wide Charr… Every server has multiples keep an eye out during special PVE events or new content and you will see them. Hell Wide Charr even came to my birthday party! lol The point is they are good normal people. Just gamers who get paid to play is all then report their findings. Nothing like the UO days where they could fart at you and kill you… lol

there is no one that plays in whiteside ridge (or at least that i know of), but i’d gladly become one if they ask me

So they DO play necromancers!! Haha!

I think there’s an entire guild of ArenaNet people in SoR. At least there used to be, around release.

50-60? Psssh. If there’s less than 100 people, it’s practically a scouting party for SoR. Seriously, how do they ever even lose with their numbers?

I’ve met my fair share. They aren’t given anything other than a guild tag to make them stand out, and I feel pretty bad when people are constantly complaining in map chat about ArenaNet and see the ANet devs tag off to avoid being called out (or something to the effect).

On TC we got a Anet guy who WvWs every once in a while .I have even saved his (virtual) life once. I asked for a legendary as payment, but he refused.

@Viking Jorun – That was what ended up happening. Map chat turned into “OMG! An Anet dev!!!” “Fix this!” “Whats up with this!” “YOU NERFED MY CLASS!”

I see why he leaves that character on the shelf most of the time.

I have seen one hanging out in DR every once in a while.

Back in Beta, I had one in my guild for a few hours. She (I think it was a she) asked us pertinent questions and thanked us for our time, and then quit the guild.

Nice to see they’re still playing the game they made.

And too bad the devs don’t play enough of this game to notice the extreme lack of core content anyone who’s played from the beginning , and has continued to play to this day, can attest to.

Just like any game.. the devs play the games they develop. If they didn’t, I wouldn’t want them developing that game.

When they play on their own time it is outside of the corporate network on non-gifted characters. This is a policy they agree to when they’re hired. If you suspect a dev is playing casually and creating an advantage in game, you should contact customer support and report the character.

Likely, when you see a dev in game, they want to be seen. They aren’t going to affect the gameplay.

In UO back in the day.. EM’s, GM’s and Devs would get personally involved with players and screw around with spawns, raids, PvP, etc. Today, these things don’t happen very frequently without being exposed immediately by those affected.
