ArenaNet: You have to get creative again...
Since day 1 I’ve been suggesting that Anet makes new field-types to change the group play potential. They’ve added boons and condi, which are somewhat interesting.
New fields would really change the way people fight and would make a bigger contrast.
They can only add so much fields to the game. They would hit the same limitations fast.
Not to mention that those fields have to be worthwhile first. They would also devalue other fields, since you can already get every possible old effect out of fields.

Well I don’t know, they could have overlapping fields interact, or have a new combo system. Combo whirl and projectiles should be improved. They could have skill interaction between classes with some new elites.

Overlapping and All-Trigger-All would be insanely in OP in practice. There are already a number of balance problems with stacking as is… and honestly there are enough issues with blobs of AOE fields in the PvP modes.
The Field Finisher system was intended as simple passive way for players to power boost and support off each other, without the need for high levels of coordination; yet can if desired. The only flaw in the overall system is Might stacking…. but thats more to do with the nature of Might and boon stacks. However, its massive benefit, and the reason it works so well thus far, is that its visually oriented to allow players to capitalize on fields of opportunity.
On the good side sometimes it works out. Over the years the stealth for thieves was nerfed over and over again. So when they made Mesmer in to the new thief (high burst, easy to maintain uptime on stealth) it was like i got my old class back. Only with more pink and purple.
