Arenanet meet and greet at PAX PRIME 2014
I thought they were at PAX till i found out they were actually only having this meet and greet.
While it is nice, I was expecting something excited.
As it is over now for some hours and there is still no buzz on the net floating around it is either under NDA or there was really nothing worthwhile except some photos of their cafeteria and a smilling Colin.
I hope we get anything, or I have to go into a too critical thinking, which revolves around the concept that the “anniversity” is nothing special for ANet o.O

“Date and Time: Saturday, August 30, 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.”
This event ended like 1 day ago. What the hell? Where are the information from this event? or nothing happened there?
What sort of news/announcements usually comes out of game developers meet and greets?
I’m not familiar with game developers doing them, but meet and greets I have been to or heard about in other industries are usually just an informal opportunity for fans/clients to put faces to names, take photos and chat to the staff. Or if it involves celebrities of some sort (musicians, actors etc.) get stuff signed. Either way it’s not the type of event where big announcements on up-coming products would be made.

Last year Anet at Pax Prime 2013 announced Tequatl rewamp and something more.
I was there. There was no formal Q&A and no news released (to be expected in a M&G format).
There wasn’t much other than meeting and greeting with fellow players. There were only a handful of devs there to chat with, most of whom were tied up with the event (and the few who were not tied up with the event were always tied up with other players). If you got there early enough, you also got food, beer and maybe a t-shirt (if they had your size, see below). They also had a raffle with some nice prizes (gratz to the raffle winners). There was also a cute birthday cake that looked like the Birthday Blaster cakes in-game.
I’m not typically one to complain about free stuff, but I have to admit that the swag was a bit disappointing compared to past Seattle events. They didn’t give out cards for in-game items like past years. They did give out Scarlet t-shirts, but didn’t have a decent size selection. No joke…my sig other and I got there 2.5 hours early and near the front of the line (someone had counted the line and we were somewhere in the mid-30s). By the time we got to the t-shirt table, they were out of men’s small, medium, large, and XL. They were down to the last men’s 2XL and a handful of men’s 3XL. But they had a bunch of women’s sizes that were all several sizes too small (their women’s 2XL was more like a medium in American sizes). The sizing was so bad that they had one ANet employee walking the line with an example and warning people that the sizes ran small. Since the women’s sizes were too small, I had to settle for a much too large men’s 3XL.
The whole thing felt incredibly rushed compared to past events, which is not surprising given the last-minute announcement for the event. Still, it was fun to meet and greet with fellow players.
