This arena net tattoo breaks the fourth wall. It really detracts from the immersion. Although the design of giant unicorns running out from a shot of the legendary bow is quite ostentatious, it doesn’t necessarily break away from the game world. Even though I despise the appearance, I can’t really say that unicorns can’t exist in the world.. Unicorns coming out of the bow, well it’s a magical bow after all.

Without taking into consideration of the arena net logo tattoo, the argument that the unicorns break immersion comes from the idea that a player cues the graphical design as so distasteful and ostentatious that it actually reminds them of the design process itself and how bad of a design choice it was in the first place. Thinking about this design choice is what bracing immersion. Because when you are playing the game you don’t want to think about the fact that this game was designed by developer, but you just want to be immersed in playing the game.

But the arena net tattoo is what really buries the hatchet. Why would an arena net tattoo exists within this world in the game? That’s like putting a Nike or Adidas sign within the game. The logo isn’t even something that alludes to the arena net company, but rather it is directly the symbol itself. In Lyons arch, on the sandy beaches there is a little mini arena whose walls are shaped in a manner very similar to the arena net logo. When I saw this I thought it was cute and interesting allusion to the company. But it wasn’t the arena net logo stamped on the back of a horse’s behind.

At least they didn’t spell out “arena net” under the logo. Or maybe some players would like this included as well?

I really do not like how they put it on the flank. Bronies are the most annoying thing on the internet once they all find out about it you wont hear the end. Guarantee they’d ask for more pony updates. Don’t believe me? Gabe newell said he was a brony. Look at valve games like tf2 flooded with pony crap now all because he said he was one.

Honestly I don’t really see why everyone sees a BRAND on a HORSE and immediately assumes MLP reference.

Horses existed before MLP. Brands existed before MLP. What’s the big deal?

I honestly don’t think Anet’s intention was a MLP reference at all. Moreso I think it’s that they “own” the unicorn —

It should be a choice you want to sell advertising space on your toon or their items Anet should ask if you want the logo on the rump of the Unicorn.

That said Anet can advertise on the back side of my Norn if they like, considering the size i think a free precourser would be adequate compensation for that much add space.

Hmm the only thing in tf2 I would conisder pony related would be the baloonicorn. Going to have to be more specific here, or should I just chalk it up to the usual overblown brony hate from people.

Honestly, the whole thing is just a mess. It really is just a ridiculous bow overall. But the Anet logo makes it even worse, and is completely immersion breaking.

I know this is stretching it, but after hearing about this, I started thinking of something else that made me laugh. Just imagine later down the road when Anet starts selling ad space to companies. I mean, we already have the Anet logo on a weapon. Next thing we’ll be seeing is Pepsi banners and Doritos logos on our armor.

Never said valve made pony stuff i said the game is flooded with pony crap. Number 1 thing would be sprays, everywhere.

Also never said i hated bronies they are just the most annoying thing on the internet i could think of though. One of my best friends is a brony i dont hate him but when he brings it up hes the most annoying person i ever met. Til he ends the topic.

The show isnt horrible i seen it its not bad the fans i do not like, thats why i do not like anime as well besides animes being the same stuff everytime the fans are very annoying.

I mentioned that place in my original post. I have no issues with that because I think it is a lot more subtle way to allude to the company rather than a direct symbol branded on the back of a unicorn.

And yeah there are bigger problems in the world and these are first world problems, but hey if you’re passionate about what you do no need feeling ashamed and just do it. Who knows maybe the product of your passion is serving someone who is serving in the military and defending your country for you.
