Arenanets ability to listen to the players.
You will need to provide proof that any of your premises have ever been stated as desires or intentions Anet had. You cannot assume they intended the best for anything.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
In their defense, I will say they do listen, as in they do read posts with/without acknowledgement. However, listening is only half o the equation, ‘realization’ is the other. Many obvious shortcoming in skills/traits have been repeatedly called out since the start but neglected still or only fixed recently after a whooping two years.
‘listening’ or not, in the end, they always do things as they pleased and always have been that way. If any update that people like, it’s merely a coincidence.

Here’s the reality.
Most of the people who play GW2 do not care about the latest gem store patch, most people wouldn’t even care if GW2 went full p2w, they would simply quit.
That is what happens when you build your game upon the casuals.
Anet does listen, but they take quite a long time to implement the changes we ask for. We want everything instant and now, but Anet probably can’t come through with that demand. In that short of a time.
They’re not going to listen to posts with baseless facts. Saying “a lot of people” or “not everyone” aren’t viable numbers. That’s not how a business runs.
It’s even harder to sort out pure, undirected rage with constructive criticism.
1. Yes, enough people were upset with the changes that several angry posts were put up on the forums. But Anet needs feedback, not rage. Rage =/= feedback.
2. They do listen. When they first flashed an ingame advertisement for the gemstore ingame, there was a lot of unpleasant feedback. And, we never saw ingame advertisements ever again.
3. The recent changes (NPE) are lacking, need polishing, but are necessary. Remember the very first time you played an MMO. It was probably very confusing.
4. I am FINE with repeated content. Why? I miss events sometimes. I missed the first Halloween, I didn’t really enjoy much of the 1st Christmas, I missed Flames and Frost, I missed the first Jubilee festivities, I missed spring 2014 WvW – real life took over. If content repeats the same way it did last year, that’s great! That means I can enjoy whatever I didn’t get the chance to enjoy last time.
To Anet: Most people (see, even I’m doing it) are probably upset because they love this game. You guys are doing everything right in a business sense, but a lot of implementations need polishing.
1. Gemstore conversion needs to account for less than 400 gems, AND odd values.
2. NPE would be easier to digest for veteran players if they didn’t have annoying pop-ups. And the NPE lacks a crucial system to teach fields and finishers.
3. WvW balancing could use some love, and I’m glad you’re looking into that.
4. Players want new content, and I’m guessing you can’t afford the manpower to do both new content, and polishing. I would prefer polishing over new content, but that’s me.
5. Skill point implementation. At least make it cost cheaper? I get the idea you want people to put map exploring with trait acquisition, and that’s fine. And you have the idea that vets should be more than able to pay the resources to bypass the traits. That’s fine too. Buuuut they are costly. If I were to count in the hours of farming loss to buy traits or do events to get them for free, I would only get the bare necessities. Not really worth getting them all.

Game developers are Gamers. They like the same things you and I do.
Publishers are corporate suit types. They like money.
It doesn’t matter how much you and I and ArenaNet like something, if NCSoft says “No”, it will not happen.
ArenaNet listens. It is NCSoft who is ignoring you.
I don’t understand it really. Arena net only do things that the community DOES NOT want, but when most people want something to be changed, they won’t listen.
1. You can’t keep everyone happy. plain and simple. No matter what changes take place, there will always be a vocal few unhappy (and very loud about their unhappiness)
2. You seem to be under the illusion that ANet can just pull content from their rectums. Content development on a scale and quality offered by GW2 takes months/years. A CDI for guild halls in coming, and I expect cantha may be somewhere in future plans once the forces preventing people from accessing cantha have been dealt with
3. I have pretty crappy internet, and GW2 NEVER lags for me. I’ve not had issues in my guild with doing guild events, and I can’t comment on how it impacts Role Play because it’s not something I know about/have an interest in. In regards to it “taking away” from the community, I fail to see how this is the case and would appreciate clarity in what you mean.
4. Most games rehash their seasonal content with a few extra/switched around bits and pieces. Don’t forget that the continuation of the Living Story hits in early November, and I strongly suspect that developmental resources have been focused there, instead.

I don’t know how you can claim ANet listens but that it takes them a long time to implement the changes we ask. The only 3 things that I can think of that a larger player base asked for was account unlock dyes, the skin wardrobe, and mini slot. These are only QoL changes. Where is the content that keeps coming up day after day. There are numerous threads created about the same things at least once a week. I don’t know how many time I see new threads created about new races, new classes, new weapons, new skills, new dungeons/fractals, new guild missions, new areas, Cantha (apparently we won’t get because NCSoft doesn’t want to offend the Chinese by incorporating other Asian cultures or blending them), new PvP game modes, WvW balancing. Yet we hear nothing from ANet about any of it. We finally got a CDI on Guild Halls and will be getting one on Raids one the Guild Hall one finishes. It would be nice if someone from ANet would make a statement that says something like, “Yes, we are working on/developing/brainstorming about this and that.” No expected release dates are needed. Just give us hope that our wants and desires are being heard. All we have seen are changes for new players (because they think the new players don’t understand how to play the game) and gem store skins and items galore.

This. I have no idea why, but looking at the latest patches, I feel like they’re doing these things to purposely annoy their customers?
I don’t think that’s their intent, but we seem to be getting things that we do not want, while things we do want aren’t being implemented.
For example:
- They got rid of town clothes and turned some into tonics. I don’t see ANY pros of this decision.
- Tonics are useless, as they don’t allow you to use Utility Skills while fighting.
- With their latest patch, they made Gem Store much worse when it comes to exchanging gold for gems.
- They deleted “Sclerite Weapons” from the Black Lion Weapon Guy.
- They added outfits, which aren’t nearly as customizable as we’d like them to be.
I don’t understand that. It’s like they don’t think these things through or something.

Funny, I find Carbine listens just fine. I don’t believe NCSoft is telling Carbine to ignore their paying customers or the folks testing on their PTR.
However, you are correct, there are business decisions being made with GW2 that don’t appear to be directly connected to player experience, nor customer delight.

I hope people read their employees’ reviews in the link above. Especially, the 3 stars one. These info make me questioning my stay with GW2

They’re not going to listen to posts with baseless facts. Saying “a lot of people” or “not everyone” aren’t viable numbers. That’s not how a business runs.
I’ll respect the time you invested in your post, but your points are off, except for the fact that the people who are criticizing the game do in fact love it. However, I can’t imagine what crazy nutbag would rather experience the same content from two years ago than explore new content. Most, if not all of the “angry posts” were from paying customers who took the time to voice their frustrations. Every post, whether it’s someone venting about a release or someone who drafts a four paragraph essay on why the NPE needs polishing is considered feedback.
Anet has shown they can “hear” the player feedback, but so far they have not “listened”. Big difference there.

On the other hand, four episodes of “bi-weekly” LS over 6 months is just sad.
