The rng Gods hate me with a passion. So far I have dumped well over 250 rare Greatswords and probably close to 100 exotic Greatswords down the Mystic Toilet with no success at all at a precursor. Today, while doing her daily, the better half (not sure how long I will still call her that now) dumped 4 totally random rares on the Toilet and got the Tooth of Frostfang. So if you do not see me in game for awhile it is because I will be occupied beating my head against the nearest brick wall.

What did we learn today class?

1 of my friends really wanted the fused greatsword. He farmed alts for keys day and night, spent gems in keys, opened probably around 100 chests. Nothing.

Another friend of mine opened 4 chests, got one. Some guy opened 4 chests got 3 claim tickets.

I really wanted a Sclerite GS. I farmed around 70 boxes. Nothing. Some low level warrior stumbled upon one on the first day of the event while leveling in Southsun. Saw someone with 3 of them.

Life isn’t fair. RNG can go suck all the kittens. All of them.

Do you except to get a 500-600g item with ~200g spent? I would rather say you have been lucky if you got one in ‘just’ 200g attemtps.

You may have heard this before but, you gambled you lost.
PS: Would you smack your head into a brick if someone won in lotto while you didn’t?

Isn’t that the truth. I wanted a fused weapon and did about 40 key runs, and no ticket. A friend got a key from somewhere, random drop I think, and got a ticket from that one chest. She didn’t even know what it was for. I had to tell her.

Same here with the fused, got a single key from one of my dailies and got one, friends tried for ages and got nothing. RNG is RNG.

My wife got a fused weapon ticket and I didn’t. I am NOT telling you where I buried the body. lol

You got an expensive precursor after all and you’re still not happy?

You could sell it outright at about 255 gold (after all fees) and at the very least break even from all the greatswords you dumped into this. That’s a lot better than most other gamblers end up with.

Two weeks ago I had a very nice day with drops and exotics (2 from a group of mob + 1 from another group, rares and lodestones) and tried Mystic Forge, got The Dusk in 25 tries.
My boyfriend at the first 2 Dragon Coffers dropped since launch of this update got the Mini and the Ticket.
And we were VERY very unlucky in this game so far!
I would suggest you to not spend money for Mystic Forge until you have a superlucky day like I had

I’ve been on the receiving end of bad RNG both in games and in real life for a while now. I’m generally not bothered if it’s video game stuff, or if it’s something minor in life but it seems like the more you try to shake things off, the worse it gets and sometimes you just want to look up at the sky and say “Really? U seriouz?” and raise your situationally appropriate finger into the air.

He didn’t get it…his wife/girl friend did. That’s what better half means.

So far i learned 3 things from this thread.
1) RNG sucks
2) Females have better luck in this game
3) Zommoros gets richer by the second.

maybe someday in a far future, we’ll get an event that let zommoros out of the forge, and get to stab him yourself.

200rare and 100 exo is nothing. Why didnt you sell those exos and bought 100 rare instead?..

You gambled and loss. I’ve spent over 700g gambling.

If the item costs around 500g, then expect to lose if you invest anything below that

I applied for bifrost only staff and more a lessa more than 250 try and still i continue to cry. Need only the precursor to finish my legendary :’(

It is truly a miracle that the is not an enterprising Charr rancher with a shop set up in Lion’s Arch right next to the forge selling various animals to sacrifice to the RNG toilet gods.

Actually I’d like to make a small correction. This modified RNG sucks, RNG in general when done properly doesn’t work the way it has in this game. I play 3 other mmo’s all of which use RNG for drops. I get proper expected drops from farming in their versions of their open world all the time. I get high level drops, I never am cutoff from valuable maximum level resources, I can farm for an hour and get what I need to craft no problem.

For more information on what is most likely wrong click here combine Wi Flag style algorithms with DR and you have what we’re seeing with the loot problems in this game easily.

I would not doubt that it’s extended into the mystic toilet.

What you mention is the price that people put on the precursors, not the estimated value by ArenaNet (and therefore the drop rate).

You can then argue that people base the price on the perceived drop rate. But then again, you don’t know the people that play the market to fix the precursor price and they really probably make a solid margin on an average based on the price of getting exos out of the Mystic Forge.

On a side note, ArenaNet indirectly (or maybe directly, I don’t know for the latter) said several times that the current precursor prices are way too much, meaning that the current price based off actual drop rate is way too high.

I feel for the OP because I’ve been there, though not quite so often it seems. With those numbers of rares and exotics, it might have been cheaper (and easier) to just buy a Legendary from the Black Lion.

OP: My wife also has much better RNG luck than I. Of course, I understand it’s random, and one person doesn’t actually have better luck than another with RNG, but she gets BLSK with her daily reward pretty much at least once a week. She is consistently lucky and has stacks of the things, and I HAS NONES.

I must be the only one who simply cannot be bothered with the mystic toilet, except to make items where I know the recipe works 100% of the time, like superior siege items for WvW.

There is a definition for insanity. You guys should look it up.

So with 200g spent you’re angry you don’t have an 800g weapon …

If it makes you feel any better I dumped around 500g in weapons in the mystic forge trying to get my Tooth of Frostfang and I’ve yet to get it… I started trying with random yellows I collect and still no precursers of any kind……

Now I sit crying to myself that I could have had my legendary finished months ago if I just sold the weapons instead of tossing them in the toliet….

Moral…. don’t use the mystic forge it will bring you nothing but tears.

I’ve had my 3 gifts ready for nearly 6 months I’m just having the issue getting the 350g for my precurser…. sitting on 100g atm lol.
