Armors and Professions
I liked that in the original gw each profession had its own armor.
As I am also pretty ok with the system how it is now, what about extending and enhancing it a little bit…?
a) put in profession restricted armor for each profession (start with one per profession and include more later) that can be easily obtained
→ that way we have the normal light, medium, heavy system with a new profession system for more diversity
b) let us refine existing armors, eg. by going to a necro npc that would modify pieces of existing light armor that a necro player shows him to a necro armor (which then of course can only be worn by the necro)
→ we would still have only the light, medium, heavy system, but could have these armors (which we already owned) get more specialized (whatever this means.. just visually or also with smaller profession boni..)
If classes limited armors that would limit the customization possibilities for the player. For example, as engineer you would only have 1/3 of the medium armor sets we have now and they would likely mostly be tech themed. Makes my character feel less like my character. What’s so bad about diversity?
Both could coexist and create more diversity over class look.
I still dont understand why we cant transmute styles from other professions . Necro still have to wear light armor but he can transmute it for rangers coat . Somebody said it would cause problems with clipping o_0 after two years of playing char i have seen so many bugged armors that nothing will scary me , and i think few hundred styles are worth it .
As for why the armors “all look the same” no matter who wears them, well, it’s a touch of realism. If I forge a plate chestpiece, no matter who wears it, it’s going to look exactly the same. :/
