Hey guys.

So i picked up this game today and iv been enjoying it (currently level 6, close to level 7). But, i have noticed that no matter what armour i have obtained, it looks the same? I was wandering if i could change the appearance of it or something, because im kind of getting sick of looking at the same armour.
Thanks guys!

Are you playing a heavy character or medium armor character? Pretty much all of the armors look the same up to level 15-20ish except for the light armor classes.

I am currently playing as a warrior, and i am wielding heavy armor!
Is there anyway i can change the appearance now? Or will i just have to wait?

You’ll find different armour skins as you progress through the game, and the means to swap skins to keep the stats you want (if desired). Keep plugging away and you’ll find them.

Having said that, some of the early medium stuff is boring.

You can preview armours and weapons too. Go onto the tp if you want and look through the armour lists. Right click on them. Cultural vendors in the capitals for the same.

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

The boringness? Not as much

You can transmute all armours but like for like.

I edited my previous post btw.

Basically the further along you go, the cooler looking armor you are going to find from hearts/chests, what have you.

You will start seeing some really cool heavy armor skins start popping up around 30ish.

For some instruction on the Dye system check out http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dye

You can make boring looking armor into something quite nice with a little creativity. And yes as you get further in the game, better looking stuff becomes available, and if you find an armor skin you like, you can put it on another armor. It’s called transmutation.

Yeah, don’t expect too much variety at the lower levels. It gets better at higher levels, and at level 80 you’ll have plenty of choices.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

Darkwolf,

The lack of interesting armor graphics has been a constant complaint about the lower levels and it’s a very valid one. Up until around 30th or 40th level, there isn’t a lot of visual variety between your various looks. Yet with this in mind, you can get some vaguely interesting armor appearances from the karma vendor pieces and from completing portions of your Personal Story quest line. Now that you can Right Click to Preview gear pieces, you can see how they look on your character and this can help you do some customization.

In the mean time, a low level character is stuck in a boring place. I still do like some of the low level armor graphics and one of my Warriors still does use Copper armor for looks since I like how I can blend colors using the armor scales. However that’s more of the exception and not the rule.

One interesting armor option comes with Cultural armor pieces. These gear pieces cost pure in-game cash, which can be far too expensive for your 1st character as they are leveling up. However each race does have their own unique graphics for the x3 different Cultural item tiers and it is something to think about.

Beyond that, don’t be afraid to mix and match item pieces. You may like a set of armor, but loathe the shoulder pieces. A simple option of switching to a lower level shoulder piece is always available. Other people cherry pick armor pieces that they like and mix them together to create really interesting combinations. By the time that you’re running around the popular farming events at 80th level, you will see tons of variety.

We are Test Group F. (Don’t ask about what happened to the previous Test Groups.)
