Someone linked an interesting article on http://gw2hub.com/features/editorials/underbelly-hacks-cheats-bots-and-exploits that details just how far-reaching the hacking and exploiting extends in GW2 currently.

Botters….ergo programs that play the game for you are only the simplest of tools. The rabbit hole is far far deeper. But read for yourself.

Reading that was actually depressing. No doubt these advantages are used heavily in WvW and SPvP. I love this game, but it definitely seems like ANET needs to step up their game, because the playing field is obviously far from even : /

The botting is out of control, I’m seeing it everywhere. Various PVE areas (certain bots with familiar names have been around for WEEKS) and even in WvW areas (skritt, underwater areas).

These bots are ruining the economy and causing gold inflation to explode. I pity legitimate players who will be forking over a fortune to afford inflated items within 6 months. Base exotic weapons like Dawn have increased in price four-fold in two months. Going from 75ish gold to over 300. In 6 months, it’ll be 900.

Bots are raking in gold and everyone else is paying the price.

I already had to buy gold and I wont be buying anymore. It is flat out stupid I have to spend MORE money outof pocket to try to keep up with cheaters. At this point, I am just going to quit and ask for a refund for my digital store purchases (110.00) if this keeps up.

They can keep the collectors edition price as I feel I got the worth out of it.. but the gems I bought I want a refund on if they can not get their shiv together.

Only reason why I am commenting in here is to point out that inflation is not controlled by the botters.

The only game I have played in my entire life where players are willing to sell items for less then vendor price on the Auction House.

Items like Dawn and other pre-legendary exotics will always cost a large amount because it is a gamble to get it.

Considering that some people have burned over 400g trying to get them … random is random.

You can only do so much with gold. It comes to the point that the usefulness of gold is limited to what you can do with it.

You do not need the Auction House or Gold to play this game. (Well, it helps with the teleporting)

But I have geared my Thief with 2 sets of Exotics gear & weapons & accessories included without buying any materials or items. I farmed everything, it only took a few weeks.

On Topic: I hope A-Net take a serious approach to destroying hackers. Bots will always be there no matter what they do. They need to fix the teleport hack/speed hack asap.

Ok, the fact that these posts are talking about gold sellers shows that you guys didnt read the article. its much worse than that. Give the OP some credit and read please.

The article mentions that increasing magic find is possible with some of these third-party programs, does this mean magic find is client side? If so, what other stats are client side?

What does P2P have to do with anything?

btw, There is no such thing as mf hack, tele hacks yes, speed hack doubtful (checked sources but to no avail), they also use the tele hack to go underground and glitch places, but other than that…Bot, Teleport…Thats it. Dont spread crap like this please

Just go google. Guild Wars 2 Speed Hack.

Stop babbling about nothing you know about. There is a TON of stuff going on that you have no clue of. There is even a bot that reads gthe AH and does the math on items priced above the 15% difference.. buys them and resells them for profit. This bot can do thousands of transactions a day.

It amazing how little people know.. Especially when Google is right there.

I used to bot in Aion, the devs didn’t like it but people were never banned for it.

The bot I used was really complex, I could have been there playing for all any player knew. If you were to set it up properly, it was really hard for a non botter to recognize the bot.

Yes, other games have this but they have one flat monthly fee and I can progress without spending over that 15 a month. That just isn’t the case here. It’s a huge old gold sink game that serves one purpose only. I’ve been working hard on my legendary, but I may just stop now. Why bother? Someone can hack there way to it or buy gold to get it fast. I want an Epic MMO. Is GW2 truly epic?

I think I am with you on this one. I had really high hopes for this game since I heard about its development, but it has really turned from Guild Wars 2 into Bot Wars 2 and I do not see the developers actually winning against the bots.

I did not originally have an issue with the occasional spending of real life money to get gems and enjoy the game a little more, but I really cannot see the point anymore knowing that so many out there simply have to load up a program and cheat to do so.

Maybe someday WAY down the road this issue will be under control, but from what I have read about the client side of the game having so much power, I sincerely doubt it.

I will check back in a few months and see how things are going, but for now I think I will just shelve the game that has become Bot Wars 2. I had always been told that “Cheaters never prosper.”, however apparently this game is here to disprove that saying.
