Artifacts and treasure hunting
You mean like collections we have we find items in special champion chests and karma vendors etc and when we got all we get a reward for it.
Isn’t that exactly what the current collections system is? There are all kinds of different collections some of which do require you to find things from doing different things/in different places. Some collections aren’t even visible until you find a part of it.
Not quite. In Rift, the artifact would show up as a glittery spot on the ground. You did not know what the actual item would be until you clicked on it. I guess there was more of an element of surprise. And they were easier to collect than the collections in GW2, I find. But that’s my 2 cents.
GW2 Treasure hunter collection is one of those things that seems alright in concept, but leaves quite a bit to be desired. Run the same world boss event over and over, each day and keep hoping that this super low probability RNG falls your way (and get trolled the whole time by the blue version of the trinket) or shell out a pile of gold to buy the super-rare drop. That is, if the event isn’t bugged (Ogre Wars…looking at you).
I really enjoyed that about Rift too. It was exciting when you found one and some were quite valuable. Completing a set gave you different rewards such as a type of currency, a pet, books, titles, etc or you could just sell them on the Auction House.
Yes, exactly! I guess my biggest issue with the current system is that it feels like such drudgery, and I know I will never ever complete some of them.
I hope Anet considers rebuilding this system and scattering the items across the world so that there is actual element of treasure hunting involved.

I thought you could use the forge to upgrade the champ ones.

Oh I see… Idk if rebuilding the entire system is really needed. I could see them leveraging the current system to build out actual scavenger hunts which would be fun. I’d think they’d be able to add some new collections where you have to find things out in the world fairly easily.
Yes, some treasure/scavenger hunt collections would be awesome. Quite a few of the collections in game at the moment will take a long time to complete. It would be nice to have some easier ones focused on just exploring. Maybe with some rewards like pets, titles, etc.

I wish. Sadly you cannot, if you could then the blue ones would be more expensive and the exotic ones would be less expensive.
