Asc aquatic-breather, what about Rime-Rimmed?
I was surprised when I realized the Rime-Rimmed Rebreather was not an actual skin, it should just be made to a skin that unlocks in your wardrobe and can be applied to any other aquabreather.
Yeah, a skin would work as well.
Having some form of using it in the future would be nice even if it seems like wasted time getting multiples :\
Getting an alternate way to use it on land is totally not an ulterior motive for my engineer to be even more shiny/sparkly.
I assume you could just apply the skin to any breather. (And I’m hoping that they eliminate breathers altogether and make them skin-only slots.)
Good news, you can reskin aquabreathers through the wardrobe, yes there’s already a couple of skins for them. So you can still use the rime rimmed one underwater even if you want the ascended aquabreathers.
As for using them on land for helm skin, I don’t see why not, they released an aquabreather helm skin, which just looks like an aquabreather but for land use.
Might be an issue with slot categories, but shouldn’t be too much effort to just merge the helm skins and have the aquabreather as a cosmetic item underwater, to not break immersion.

Yeah, that would fix the 7th rune debacle at least.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

Yes aquabreathers have skins, but the particle effect on the Rime Rimmed one is reported to not be part of the skin, so it doesn’t show up if applied to another rebreather, or so I hear.

I don’t see why they just don’t get rid of aquabreather stats, like people suggested a million times by now, and make them use the stats/rune from the helms and just be an underwater skin. Its clear we haven’t seen anything supporting underwater combat for a looong time not even underwater bl skins, so why bother adding ascended recipes for something that’s not being ‘used’.

Can confirm. I’ve reskinned my exotic breather to look like the one from tequatl and the frosty effect still remained. The skin itself from the exotic breather is just a standard breather skin and has nothing tied to it.
Yeah I was discussing this in another topic here , hopefully Anet will create something to solve this.
I really want the asc breather but I don’t want to lose the frost aura from the Rime-Rimmed
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, the particle effect and frost sound are tied to the exotic aquabreather and it is not a separate skin. Former guildmate of mine was hiding in Bay (wvw) and was going to take it back and the enemy found him because they followed the sound. He discovered the hard way that just changing the skin of the breather didn’t remove the sound. lol.
I wish it was a separate skin with the particle effects rather than the effects tied to it being that particular aquabreather. I don’t think any other skin in the game works that way, does it?

The Poly-luminescent Undulating Refractors and Preserved Queen Bee appear to use similar tech in that special effects are tied to an item (in this case jewels) instead of skins.
Why didn’t you make Rime-Rimmed effects tied to a jewel as well, ANet?

They’ll probably keep them the way they are. It will be a gold sink, a small one, but still a sink.
