I would really like an anet person to respond to this. I am very confused as to why you made the ascended amulets purchasable only via the use of laurels, but made the rings available for purchase with pristine relics or laurels.

I just can’t fathom why this choice was made. Why weren’t amulets able to be purchased with the use of pristine relics as well? There are plenty of us who are sitting on 6+ rings from drops in FoTM dailies of 20+, and many more of us that are sitting on an excessive amount of pristine relics that have no use for them, other than to inhabit another space in our ever precious inventory.

I just do not understand why they are ONLY available with laurels. Not only that, but to release the laurels at the end of the month, when so many of us got our monthly out of the way earlier in the month, you punished us. You allowed the people whom were lax to get an upper hand with 10 additional laurels when you released it with 3 days left to accomplish the monthly. I, for one, and perturbed that you did this.

I don’t necessarily agree with the decisions, but would just like to know what the reasoning is behind some of the asinine things that have come out.

I like to think it’s in part to encourage more people doing their dailies. All it really means to me is that Mystic Coin prices are going to go down, which will make my next Mystic Clover attempts a little less painful.

The dailies are designed to be more or less achievable while doing differnt types of content. They can be accomplished doing dungeon runs, event farms, or WvW. In making the amulets only available through laurels, Anet is making them available to a large player base regardless of their preferred in-game activities. This is inline with their policy on allowing players to play the game their way, and I applaud this.

If they were also allowed to be bought with relics, then many would complain that FotM farmers were being given an advantage in that they could just pick it up with their accrued relics, and could thus use their laurels for other shinies. Those people would rightfully ask why they couldn’t use their other dungeon tokens or WvW badges to also gain this advantage.

If you really think about it, this was a smart move on Anet’s part.

Listen, I am not saying they shouldn’t be purchased only via laurels. I am questioning why they didn’t make it available via purchase of FoTM tokens as well.

The fact that they made the rings purchasable with laurels as well as relics is a smart move in my eyes. I am just questioning why they didn’t make the option available to those who have accomplished a lot in FoTM as well.

This example goes to the backpacks as well. I think all FoTM items should be purchasable via laurels, and vice versa.

New item, new currency. Makes sense to me. No reason to let FoTM farmers instantly buy something others can’t get. I have plenty of pristine relics banked and I think they made the correct decision.

Yes. YES. This. I want to be able to earn stuff in GW2 by making toast and petting my cat.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me honestly.

They introduced new Exotic Accessories as well, and put those in the Karma vendor with the rest of the Karma Exotics. So those who already had tons of Karma were able to buy the new Exotic Accessories right away.

So why did they introduce new Ascended Amulets and put them only in the Laurels vendor? Why not put them in Fractals or the Mystic Forge with the rest of the Ascended items? They did it with the new Exotic Accessories, why not with the new Ascended Accessories? Why did they have to add yet another currencies on top of all the others we have, for Ascended Amulets, instead of adding them to pre-existing currencies already?

And don’t say, cause those with relics can buy them right away. Well, those with Karma are buying the new Exotic ones right away, so what’s the difference?

what are they gonna do? introduce a new currency for every new piece of gear they add??

it seems to me that they have no plan whatsoever for rolling out ascended gear across the whole game the way they stated it should have been: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/13tuac/im_the_studio_design_director_on_guild_wars_2_ama/

introducing it one piece at a time via arbitrary currencies available via only 1 method is just dumb and annoying. Whether that method is fractals or dailies it doensn’t matter, it’s still a single method, unlike exotic which can be aquired through all currencies and methods of play.

They need to just stop, figure out a plan, introduce ascended properly—weapons, armor, everything—and make it available via karma, wvw tokens, dungeon tokens, crafting, etc.

oh yeah, and it should be tradeable! even legendaries can be sold, why not ascended??

While technically it is easier than farming other currencies, it is very limited.

You can only get one Laurel from your Daily, and ten Laurels from your Monthly. So while the objectives are easy, they are limited in how much you can obtain within a time period.

Where a dungeon run you can keep doing over and over till you get enough tokens to buy what you want, laurels put you on a wait period that you can’t bypass. You are forced to wait to get what you want, unlike others that you can get right away.

So they may seem easier, but they are very limited compared to others. Thus making them harder to obtain compared to other currencies.

The best part of this game, bring the worst part of the community. You see, This game is very casual friendly. But part of the “casual” community think that is unfair hardcore players get more rewards because they can invest more time in the game. For my, complaining about that is stupid. If someone can play 10 hours a day, is normal that should receibe more rewards.

with this, ArenaNet could do two things:

Like now: Casual are ok but hardcore complain.
Alt friendly: Hardcore are ok but casual complain.

Like the “casual” demography is bigger, the take that option.
