Why not give Ascended tier items the same stats as Exotics in the same way that Legendaries are a higher tier but still have the same stats? You could still make a step up in rarity that is easier than the “Legendary Wall” but harder to acquire than exotics to provide the middle ground that can be pursued without perpetuating a stat divide between the casual and hardcore players. Agony resistance could come from upgrade components like sigils and runes or be the intrinsic property of certain Fractals of the Mists items with normal upgrade slots. Thoughts?

Or we could just wait to see the entire ascended gear set when it rolls out before jumping to conclusions. Not you btw. I mean the rest of the players complaining that wvw will be destroyed and the rivers will run with blood, and a plague of locusts will ascended trinkets strapped to their legs will terrorize the world.

Then there would be no reason to get the back pieces or rings. Or anything except ascended armor/weapons.

And the armor/weapons would have to look pretty damn fancy to justify the increased cost/effort.

Anet make Rev great again.

If i HAD to suggest something.

Ascended will give the same +2 power/prec/toughness/vit across all gear compared to exo.

Make ascended gear incredibly flashy.

Only 1 level of infusion allowed.

Players can choose what affix for that infusion.

Infusing it grants the item a cosmetic effect. Like a glow. Which will be flashy but not as flashy as legendary cosmetic effects.

The glows can come in different color palattes. So zerker affix infusions will have the red swath of colors, but only red. Defensive ones can be a variety of blue. Mixes can be like, purple, yellow, green etc.

So players can get cosmetic effects like glowing hands, chests, heads etc.

Sell rarer dyes for the glows in the gem shop for like 500 gems per.

Everyone is happy. Stats are increased but with negligible practical effect. People can play the vanity game (which i love) and the gem shop makes money.

Everyone is happy.

Profit ensues.

If they make Ascended gear easy to get like Exotic gear then i’m cool with it, if they continue to make it a boring insane grind like it currently is, i’ll probably be gone sooner than later..

I came here to play a casual game, not be ground into the boredom, by terrible mechanics and money sinks…..
