Q:
Ascended Gear Infusions - Agony Resistance?
A:
Because all other infusion(defense/offense) require 250 karka shells/passion fruits, 100 t6 mats and 5 skill points.
Also, when you infused the ring, any infusion on the ring will be remove, hence before one upgrade their ring to the infused version, it is better to just put a simple Infusion.

Not all infusions give the +5AR. The only ones that don’t give +5AR are the magic find, gold find, karma, and exp infusions.

The reason people get the Versatile Simple Infusion is because its extremely easy to get in comparison to the other infusions that give stats and AR.

I’m not 100% sure about this but,
Back when they introduced agony resistance in November, rings had both offensive and defensive slots. So you could only put defensive infusions in defensive slots, and offensive infusions in offensive slots. But eventually they realized that this was cumbersome and just opened up rings to be outfitted with whatever
The versatile infusion could be put in either one at that time. Of course, versatile is obsolete now since anything can be used.

Ah, perfect explanation, thank you. I thought the infusions sold by the Laurel vendor were the ones that contained the Agony Resistance, but it wasn’t showing up in the description of the item. Now I understand perfectly, thank you so much!
