Grind. Ugh.

Anyways, here’s the question: Why not scale Ascended stats back to Exotic, but make Ascended switchable on the fly?

So someone who crafts an Exotic greatsword will have the same stats as someone using an Ascended greatsword or Legendary greatsword. The benefit to Ascended and Legendary is stat switching, and Legendaries further have the cool effects and prestige. I would also include the ability to “infuse” all gear with Agony Resistance, so that Exotic is not overshadowed by Ascended and/or Legendary.

That way, gear obtainable by the vast majority of players will not be outclassed by the privileged few, just like it was in GW1, and ostensibly how it was supposed to be in this sequel.

Because the whole point of Ascended gear was to cater to progressionists who wants to get stronger even after level 80.

Sad to say, the additional grind was completely intentional and the way GW2 was originally supposed to be was tossed in the garbage can quite a while ago.

But that’s really more a player-side problem than a developer-side one.

Many people want gear > skill so they can hide behind there gear and can tell how good there skill is at the moment it is only about 5-8% better with all stats and weapon damage, but wait till the armor comes, it can be over 10% better than exotic gear and then the point, skill decides matches is only given when two players with the same gear fight each other, but this is something you will never know after a fight you lost.

I like your Idea hope Anet looks at it

To the OP. Yes I’ve been doing a comparison between WoW and GW2. In WoW you can spend a lot of time doing a Legendary quest line. You maybe need to get the help of friends and a raiding guild but you can do the quest. In PvE and PvP you can get your in a variety of fashions and play the way you want to play.

My experience in GW2 is that you have to spend a ton of gold on the chance of getting the piece that allows you to start the legendary question. You put in a ton of work and still never get a good roll on the dice. Your other options are to Pay to Win to buy the money to purchase the precursor from someone who was lucky with the RNG. Until recently even the whole fallacy of the games claim to play how you want to play. For you to get the best gear for PvP you had to grind out PvE content in the Fractals. Seriously false advertising with this game.
