Ascended PvP Gears
Well talk about a huge rant. They made the pvp armor more expensive than it should be I will agree with that. But you get 27 gold each time you complete the last chest so assuming if you did do the grind to get the shards you’d have to complete it 18 times, which would award you nearly 450g after everything.
PvP hasn’t been this rewarding at any point of the games history. I’ve been playing where we were promised exclusive progression to legendary items in pvp.
What happened instead was we got terrible reward tracks and PvE players could import all their unlocked skins including legendary skins while pvp players got pretty much nothing.
PvP side has been left out on rewards so many times that honestly you should be just dull to the changes. You must be newer in the game I guess
If PvP got the short end of the stick, then WvW players didn’t even get a stick. I agree though that they did make the armor overly expensive though. The tokens added to fractals and pvp ascended options were complete kitten-ups by anet. And WvW still has no options for it besides hoping for lucky chests, which you have an chance at in other modes just as equally. WvW is getting torn apart by bad decisions and match ups that anet picks. Pve(mainly raids) get the better treatment. PvP got hit because not everyone is esports worthy and able to make Anet money that way. And they just seem to be hoping WvW dies on its own at this point so they can get rid of it.(The last part is biased because WvW is my preferred mode, but it is true that it gets the worst deal out of every mode.)
It never made sense in the first place for ascended gear to be in spvp, since it can’t be used there. They were trying to lure people into the game mode, and got them in it long enough to max out on shards at which point they stopped.
By changing it, they’re hoping to keep people’s attention longer. I think they changed it too much, to the point it isn’t any better per unit time to do spvp for the gear than other game modes (and crafting it). All else being equal, those who don’t like spvp now have no compelling reason to give it a shot.
Wvw still has nothing, and the gear is mildly useful there.

Yeah, I’m kinda new to the game. Been here for a year only.
They’re making us to grind the last chest this season. It wasn’t the case last season. I repeated the last chest for 4-5 times for the liquid gold in the last season and that’s it.
So yeah, to get the shards and the gold to level my crafting, I got to grind now…….. a lot! I guess Anet isn’t true to their vision and mission statement anymore. They told us you won’t have to grind and now they’re making us grind anyway. I don’t know who makes this kinda decision but I’d like to meet him personally and box his ear……

Someone said to me that the gears are more expensive to get via the token than to actually craft them. If that’s true, I don’t really know what they’re doing anymore…..
What they should’ve done instead was to introduce 3 more new currencies. Each for a different weight class. Say you want ascended heavy armor? Go win “x” number of ranked matches with a war or a guard or rev to get the currency of you weight class. That way it wouldn’t be too easy and too grindy. You would play the class anyway as you want the specific wight armor so why not do PvP with it too? And that way you’ll get progession to the PvP legendary backpack too (if you havn’t completed it yet that is)….
Doesn’t this solution make more sense than the existing token system?

they have such a beautiful game mode WVW that could of used that more than SPVP
I guess the system in WVW is so messy its easier to just put it in SPVP
Its true you can get gold from PVP and buy materials but … wouldn’t it be better to have some sort of currency system for the ascended gear ?
so it would make more sense in terms of having FUN .
But on the bright side …. you can easily acquire Viper stat set instead crafting and than Stat swapping
