Hey all,

I know there are some of you out there who don’t care the slightest bit about aquabreathers, but some of us do like to maximize out stats for even while we’re underwater.

I’m sure there’s other people out there besides me, who don’t have a crazy ton of gold to spend on getting 1 of every single stat set as ascended, and usually are lucky to have a full set.

My issue here is that you simply cannot do any stat swapping on ascended aquabreathers at all, especially considering that it fully replaces your head gear while underwater.

This is the “Excuse” that support gave me when I asked them about it:

“Thank you for contacting us here at Guild Wars 2 Support.
Aquabreathers cannot be used with the Anthology of Heroes. It does not count as armor. The stats cannot be changed. "

When I then asked if they could replace my aquabreather with the materials that i used to make it:

“From our investigation, we have found that the Occam’s Cloth Breather was obtained on December 10, 2015. Because of the time frame since then, we are unable to replace the breather with the materials.”

Well, that would’ve been nice information to know back at the beginning of december when I swapped from exotic to ascended on that aquabreather.

Yes, Aqua Breathers should have alterable stats for the sake of continuity. It should be counted as Armor too since it replaces our headgear.

Speaking of Aqua Breathers, I really wish the “Rime-Rimmed Mariner’s Rebreather” was a skin or an effects channel that allowed us to skin our Ascended Aqua Breather with. It’s a great effect that now is wasted on an Exotic breather.

Good to know. Indeed, we should be able to change the stats, especially since the 4 attributes sets are not available for breathers.

I’m glad to have decided switching from zerker to marauder as for the rest of my armour wasn’t worth it, I would have been disappointed too.

Totally agree. I kinda feel like I’m stuck using an exotic breather now since I love the skin, Anets inconsistency really annoys me sometimes.

least they are cheap to make, and ascended items can be swapped between chars and as far as skins go you can also change those too. my question is if they are not armor what ach do you get when you salvage it?

I transmuted mine a while ago, it doesn’t work anymore or what? :O

Is this a very recent change? Around two months ago I crafted a Verata’s aquabreather. In the time since then I altered it to a Tateos breather, then most recently a Zojja’s breather. I did it using exactly the same Anthology of Heroes recipe one does for switching ascended armor stats with no problems.

aqua breathers are in my opinion an absolute obsolete equipment item.
When we go into underwater our helm items should automatically get turned into aqua breathers …

Why Anet splitted this up into two complete different items with different item slots is absolutely not understandable.

Aqua Breathers in themself should get turned simply into SKIN EFFECTS that we see automaticalyl when we go under water, just as like we automaticalyl see the GLIDER EFFECTS when we glide in the air…

This way would receive Anet with Aqua Breathers also a new gemstore thing if they work like glider skins that simply automatically appear the moment we go into water and dive…

The unneccessary item splitt between helms andaqua breathers needs to get finalyl removed and all of the senseless recips for craftign axtra these breathers….

If we already wear an ascended helm, we should have also for our head ascended stats for our heads when going underwater, and not suddenly worser stats, only because maybe our aqua breather is still the cheap useless karma bought personal story orrian green crap with that we are left after playing the main game through, because at that point of the game, anet had absolutely no intentions to improve the undereater content

(and still has that not, because everything related to this gameplay content will be most likely held back until the moment we wil lgo for the deep sea dragon, where the point will be, where it first will make sense for any to invest anything at all into improving this games underwater content to the point, where I see, they should have probably kept out the underwater content completely out of the game from the start on better and would have implemented it actually first a new feature into the game, with the expansion that brings us the deep sea dragon… this would have saved us all alot of disappointments …. instead of rushign this stuff into the game at release date and removign it to 90% then again over the first two years after game release to the point, that its nearly none existant currently and of absolute no substance for this game anymore)

Sorry about that, there’s enough negativity on this forum already, but this is the very reason it took me years to play GW2 even though I was a GW1 hardcore fan and couldn’t wait for the release of GW2 untill the cash shop leaks.

Enough with that already. Why do every suggestion on this forum has to be “do that so people will have to spend money on it”? Why do players keep encouraging the huge scam called “Back Lion Company”? We’ve paid for a game, and, for that matter, for a lack of content called an expansion. And now you’re begging for spending real money?

I know it’s off-topic, but it had to get out. And yes, I love GW2. Just as much as I hate your economical business plan. Not because of the plan itself, which would be… “ok” if it wasn’t for every kid who now comes and begs for being scammed.

Seriously. If you wanna ask for something, ask it. And let Anet decide whether it’s gonna be a gem store item or not.

its still Anets decision to make it or not, this doesn’t change the point that I can still suggest that Anet could turn aqua breathers in something, that helpüs them in making money, while we could profit from it, that something in this game that makes currently no sense under its design how it is now, gets simplyfied, because it just makes NO FREAKING SENSE to split up helms and aqua breathers.

Somehow I believe, you haven’t realized still, that buying thigns of the Gemstore is for every player 100% OPTIONAL.. You aren’t forced to by anything god darn it EVER from it, so don’t make it look like, that suggestign things for the gemstore to improve the game is just putting wood into some kind of evil scam fire..

Well said I hate this mentality that because you’ve bought the game, everything added should be free. At least Anet allows us to buy with in game gold instead of just making it a real money only shop.
