So, there you are, Christmas Day, full of anticipation for the extra special gift you have been dropping hints on for the past six months. All the family is there, opening pressies, with rapping paper festooning the floor in abundance. Then you open dotty Aunt Agatha’s present. Its the rite shape, weight , dimensions, everything. Has she remembered to get you that extra special ‘thing’ you wanted. You rip the paper off in wild abandon, sure in the knowledge, ‘this is it’ —AND--its the wrong one. You cant ask for the receipt, as it would break her heart, so your stuck with it.

And that folks is what I feel about ascended drops as it currently stands. Even in the unlikely chance I get one, it probably wont be the one I want. Plus I cant sell it, merch it, or even salvage it for ectos etc. Ironically, from a financial perspective, I would have been better off with a rare drop over level 68 for the ectos. Sure I could invest a huge amount in crafting to get an ascended—and probably will, but that is not the point. Am I the only one who can see the elephant in the room at the moment? Rares—sellable/ salvageable—Exotics sellable/ salvageable—- ascended not sellable/ salvageable—Legendary sellable (not going to say salvageable—who would lol) So why not bring ascended into line with the rest?

When an ascended drops, I’m pretty sure you get a drop down box asking which you’d like. Or is that just for the inscription and you’re saying the weapon type is the missed-option..?

You can choose the type of weapon you’d like. For example: Staff, pistol, sword, greatsword.

But you cannot pick the stats of the weapon. I looted an ascended chest a few weeks ago and I chose a staff, but it gave me soldier stats on it

Lucky you. The stat i see the most in drops around me is Settler.

Having a super rare item drop and have it be completely useless is really idiotic. We should at the very least be able to salvage for ectos/dark matter, or maybe merch it for a gold? they are rare enough it would hardly break the economy, and it sure would be a lot nicer than seeing you got ascended shaman’s stats that you can do nothing with.

I dropped a cleric box few days ago, got a staff from it and then sold on some npc. Sweet gold.

In keeping with the theme of this thread. This is similar to why I stopped giving Xmas gifts…self-entitled brats.

Anyway, if the gods see fit to grant me an ascended weapon drop, I’ll be grateful regardless of type or stats. Thanks in advance.

It’s your typical good news/bad news sort of situation.

You get a super rare drop and it’s a weapon you use.
But the stats don’t suit your build and you can’t sell/give it away/salvage it.

This is how I feel. Except, that XMas never came at all.

My class and build benefits most from Carrion gear. Ascended Carrion accessories do not exist.

So here I site, with 150+ laurels, waiting over 7 months for them to add something which would take 5 minutes to do.
