It may be in a low level area, but it seems like an important event chain.
It’s an attack on a major Sons of Svanir fortress after all. Aren’t we supposed to get a better reward, perhaps like a chest, after the defeat of the Champion Svanir Marauder?

All we get now are the usual event rewards and maybe a fine rarity drop from the boss. The way it is now, the event chain is just not worth the time it takes to be completed.

Its still fun. Not everyone needs a cookie for playing an event.

Not that fun if you end up doing it alone most of the times. And if that happens so often there must be a reason behind that.

It’s fun, but there should be a reward. Other content of that length usually has a chest at the end. That this does not, but the Maw does is jarring. Both are about the same length, and about the same difficulty.

I’ll be honest, I just don’t get the loot fixation in this forum. Not sure if its gamewide or just here though. I’ve just never “needed” so much coin to enjoy any game. Still don’t.

It’s an aquired taste. PC RPGs have always been very fixated on stats and character progression, and by extension, that means loot. MMORPGs made it even worse by focusing even less on story and adventure, and more on progression, to a point where players genuinely think it is the only thing that matters.

High level fractals broke me of my loot fascination. They made getting most of what I needed possible, and my enjoyment of the rest of the game increased dramatically when I really didn’t care what I got out of a chest at the end of an open world event. Same goes for dungeons.

Knowing that if I want to put in the time and effort to progress in the 40s in fractals, that they will provide me with good rewards….takes all the stress out of the “meh” rewards the rest of the game provides.

My only change would be that it’d be cool to get a guaranteed rare out of a meta event. I’ve gotten as many as 6 rares and an exotic in a single 30+ fractal run (no MF). Seems like the rest of the game should be OK with that, even if they are account-bound like most stuff in the fractals.

You kill a champion boss… and there is no chest or closure to the event like…. YEAH!

People always ask…. “No chest?” in map chat… and you can tell that everyone is generally disappointed when the chain ends.

The bigger issue is that this is event is bugged more than it is working. It’s been weeks since I have seen it working on Tarnished Coast and whenever it does get reset it bugs within a day or two.

As to the loot, they have already stated there was an issue where people were getting full participation karma and gold status for completing champion events but not the credit for loot and they are going to be addressing that in the patch next week.

I don’t have the link for it but it was posted here just yesterday.

I would agree that the event lacks a proper resolution. I wouldn’t say it has to be loot, but at least that would be something as opposed to the current bugger all.

To be honest though, this zone is camped to death because of the Maw event as it is. When the Maw event takes less than 5 minutes to complete there is no challenge. The dome is the same way when it’s working – unless you are on a really under populated server.

Regardless though, as I stated above they have actually pinpointed this to be a problem with the game recognizing participation level for DE’s but not for loot on some vets and champs and that is being patched next week so that they will at least drop a blue item or better.

Yeah the end of the event is odd. Since the last beta I thought there should be something in that hut with the throne like chair, but alas, nothing has appeared in there since launch.

It also seems odd that it’s not even decorated inside…

Nah, he actually appears out of nowhere right when he smashes through the door. This is of course pure canon and not a side-effect of being in a computer game.

You could say that of any event in the game. Reward, especially with champs, is not what our game sense tells us it should be. I mean, I spend 8-10 minuets fighting X champ and come away with 1s86c. In the same time I could have killed many normal mobs and gotten far more reward. It’s out of balance as it is and will continue to be a thread generator until it’s fixed.

yup, that absolutely right when you see 2-3 ppl doing Dome and 20-30 doing Maw.
or Maw is even more fun?=XD

I’m not bothered by the lack of reward as much as I am by the lack of consistency in rewards. Take, for example, Dragons, where all you do is attack a building model for five to ten minutes and are rewarded with a chest versus other, more challenging content where there is no reward except for a possible drop from the mob itself, such as the Champion Abominations in Orr.
