Based on the fact that they are releasing specializations one at a time, there are 9 of them, and that they might break the usual “1 Tuesday a release, the next Tuesday a Gem Release” and do 1 specialization per week;

9 weeks in total. Not to count Revenant hasnt been released, no talk on guild halls, or “challenging content”.

We are in for a long haul boys, we might be lucky to get it before the end of summer.

But it is ok, as long as it comes out polished Im willing to wait

Upon new thoughts, on top of the 2m 1w, the 3w for rev, challenger and guild hall, you will be on 3 months, then add a 3-4 week beta testing, 2-3 weeks for beta evaluation and bug squishing, a couple stress tests, you might easily get on 4-5 months, minimum.

Who knows, Anet might surprise us though!

They always use WvW tournaments to stall for time when they have no content and they feel players are getting restless. A tournament would likely be on the order of 6 weeks, with at least 2 weeks notice beforehand so that Anet can reap the rewards of bandwagon transfers.

That said, I’m guessing HoT comes for the Christmas season. (They can always use “Return of Queen’s Pavilion” and “Return of Dragon Bash” to stall for more time also.)

Yep, that’s what I’ve been saying as well.

I was thinking it would be released in time for the northern summer but I guess that’s now a little too close for where they seem to be at with their previews.

What is suspicious for me: still no preorder

LOL, yup, friend and I also firmly believe HoT’s release will commemorate GW 2 3rd Anniversary! (UGH! I am so excited, this is almost impossible for me to make any kind of speculated preparations!

All I know is that HoT is either going to be an anniversary gift, a birthday gift, a “I love Halloween and turkey.” gift, or a xmas gift. I’ve got options. :P

Which means its not going to have a release date announced without 3-4 months of advanced notice to retailers. August is now the absolute earliest and even that gets less and less likely every day.

With the pvp tournament ending early August I’m guessing the trait redo will come a week or two after that which places us mid August. Then a wvw 4 week event. So my guess is Sept at the earliest & end of October early November for actual launch.

Friday is the favourite launch day of devs and retailers. People buy the game to play at the weekend. And with a birthday booster active, you can L80 your revenant before you go back to work on the Monday. I bet that this is when they’ll have planned to release the expansion. They may not make the date though. But it’ll be a Friday :p

I feel like it won’t be later than August. Evidence seems to point to much later than that. Sigh.

And yet releasing something on a Friday means that there is 2 whole days after release where the vast majority of the company is not on site, which means that large bugs or blocking issues will take quite some time to even get started on a fix.

Releasing something on a Monday or Tuesday (which is rather standard) means that you have more than half a working week to solve major issues like that. And everyone is aware of the fact that big bugs can happen with big releases.

The fact that they haven’t revealed a pre-order date for a product that will be in retail stores is a little fishy to come out in August

Box product does serve as advertising in store. Target and Best Buy still have tiny PC game areas that aren’t entirely dominated by Blizzard and EA Sims.
