Was just wondering is it is approrpiate to report someone for spamming if they spam an audible skill in town 24/7? For instance on the server I’m in if you go to the bank vendors be prepared to either turn your audio off or hear “For Great Justice!”for hours/days/weeks on end (spammed on recharge) by the same player. I know it sounds rather nit picky, but when you have/decide to turn off your audio due to one player spamming audible skills 24/7, the question arises.

I was wondering this too actually, seeing as if you block someone it doesn’t block out their sounds

Even explained to me I still don’t get how people spam abilities in chat, [strike], [strike],[strike],[strike], over and over and over.

Which rule is broken by using an ability multiple times?

And if no rules are broken, how do you justify asking for punishment?

MY simple rule? If I’m going to be spending “hours/days/weeks” standing around in LA (e.g. flipping items on the TP) then I’ll likely kill the sound.

No sound made in town will help in flip items in any way.

It’s quite arguably disruption. It could potentially be classified as harassment or/and spam, but I doubt it would be. I’d be interested in knowing whether officially is or isn’t against the rules, i.e. reportable, though.

Are you expecting ANet to come in here and saying “using the same ability multiple times in a row is not allowed”?

Because… it won’t happen. That’s what a fair amount of class / weapon combos encourage.

He didn’t say he couldn’t be bothered turning it off. He said he shouldn’t have to choose between having no sound at all or listening to some irritating person spam the same thing over and over.

I can completely understand it being annoying, even when you’re only there for a relatively short time. I’ve been considering dropping Prayer to Lyssa from my human character because even though I like the skill I’m getting sick of having to hear “My Lyssa confound you!” multiple times in each fight.

Maybe they could add something like the anti-spam function for the chat where when you’re in town and not in combat there’s an extra cooldown added to skills that involve shouting something?

Perhaps it would be simpler to just add a volume slider for voices?

Those annoyed by them can turn them down.

Happens to me on occasion (but not over and over) as i am running with CTRL pressed to see gathering nodes and other special items scattered around and then decide to attack something …..

Suppose they are flipping things in the TP and macro their attack skill to not get booted if they go afk waiting for things to sell?

Macroing and using an autocast feature provided by the game are 2 very different things.

It gets annoying, but there’s an option to turn it off. The most annoying one would be necro staff #1, obnoxiously loud and it has probably the worst sound effect.
