Australian/Oceanic GW2 Servers
You realize that accounts on a server set such as EU or NA are isolated from each other and can’t play together unless they transfer out, right? If Australia has it’s own server set the players would only be playing with those whose accounts are on it. Not with NA players and not with EU players. WvW and PvP would only be those accounts that are on that set also. There would need to be enough players to make up at least 3 servers for WvW and unless Australia can get enough players to make up 6 servers in that set it will be the same 3 servers matched up together all the time.
ANet may give it to you.
What Just a flesh wound said. I’m in Australia and though I do have issues in certain activities, I understand there aren’t enough Australian players to fill three servers.
I play on US servers and I know that no matter where I go, any world boss, any meta event, there are usually enough people there at to attempt it. That wouldn’t be possible if we had Australian servers. We’d be locked away from everyone else.
Because of this, even if we had Australian servers, I’d continue to play on US servers, where my guild is. And I’m pretty sure most people would end up doing the same.
That’s what I was trying to get at when I said servers just for instances like sPvP and smaller scale content.
Currently account information is stored on a data base, either in Texas or in Germany. If you want to transfer to a different data center than the one you’re on, they either charge you $10 or you have to delete all your chars. And then they only allow it once a week. They aren’t going to set up another expensive data center just so a few people can play PvP on it.
ANet may give it to you.
