Any word as to whether us Australian players (yes, we exist :/…) will be receiving home based servers any time soon? Getting extremely fed up with the constant rubber-banding on my ele; it’s getting to the point of unplayable :’(

It’s highly unlikely, as ANet would have to establish a whole data center there. I doubt it would be cost effective.

More seriously… I’m not sure I’d use an Australian server if one was offered. It’s enough of a pain having to choose between locking out of playing with people on EU or NA – a little reduced latency would not be worth getting locked out of the NA servers.

I’m playing on European servers (I used to live there) and ran a tracert last night. 13 hops to get there and a ping of 300+ ms. Rules out WvW and Spvp

Anet can’t put servers in Australia. The Drop Bears would get into the building, and end up shredding the wires.

I would like it if they made Sea of Sorrows (the unofficial Australian server) actually Australian and have it verse NA like it does currently. And for PvE content it would be a bliss to be able to do anything under 300 ping <3

Would need to be an Oceanic server or SEA, for it to be a remotely viable option.

Heck I’d be happy with a west coast US server than one in Texas… 350 ping ftl
