Hey everyone,

I got an idea for a fairly simple option in gw2. Right now you can enable or disable auto targeting in the control settings but I’d like to have a button that does it for you. That way you can disable it if you want to skip a couple of monsters and enable it when you want to attack monsters again.
You could add a little indicator that tells you if auto targeting is either on or off. But that’s not necessary imo.

I’m not sure if the forum is the right place for technical suggestions but I had to start somewhere :P

I also would love to have such option.

Often I use axe/axe + greatsword with my ranger, axe/axe works better with auto-target but GS works better with auto-target off to run, make it bound to a key would make my life much easier,

Charter Vanguard [CV] – HoD
Bardy Belzebuson – Ranger Sir Belzebu – Herald
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Eh, it’s better to just… not have it enabled.

Considering it doesn’t even at the very least differentiate between yellow mobs and aggressive mobs when prioritising what to target, it’s in my opinion only a frustrating and unnecessary obstacle to deal with when trying to play.

From the moment I discovered it in options I have never since considered toggling it back on. xD

So with that said I can’t say I would like them to implement this feature before making autotargeting better than it is currently.

yeah the auto target Ai in gw2 is horrifically bad..

I tried to shoot a Dolyak about a range of 900 away from me yesterday and instead my bow autotargeted a white fish mob that was not only obstructed by about 800 range of solid floor but wasn’t even on the screen..

I ended up turning it off when I used to play in WvW. Trying to use a skill to escape from certain death only to have the auto target lock you on to an enemy player behind you was kind of frustrating.

I kind of find the tab to target kind of bad in all MMOs too. Maybe I’m just messing up but why does the game, at times, target an enemy 40 feet away instead of the one to my left? When you’re playing a ranged character, especially underwater, it causes you to pull more enemies than you’d like.

GUYS

use your mouse!

You should be turning your character with your mouse and selecting the enemies with your mouse – NOT YOUR KEYBOARD

Keyboard turning is slow – skill clicking is slow – slow = dead

Using auto target at a distance is not the way to go… but that was somewhat obvious imo .
Anyway, I still think that this option would be nice to have. Disabling auto targeting and spamming the tab button while fighting against some mobs is annoying.

I’ve autotargetted distant enemies while being in the middle of a mob of enemies ripping at my flesh..

best of all Im using a melee weapon..
5 scales clawing me into the Realm of Torment?…
I’ll just autotarget that Moa bird all the way over there instead.. you can hit that with your sword right?

lol I enjoy ripping on bad mechanics but this is a seriously annoying problem.. and its gotten me killed more times than I’d like to admit..
