Auto mat deposits would be problematic as some mats have to be in a characters inventory in order to complete tasks. Like mystic forge items for example.

If they were auto deposited once in inventory, you would never be able to keep them on a character if you needed them to be there.

Another issue would be the thousand posts of, “I got XXXX as a drop and now its gone, Anet fix your game!!!!”

The problem with auto-deposit is that people tend to devalue stuff they don’t actually have to manipulate. I can’t tell you how many people misunderstand just how much coin they get from killing foes or how much of various other currencies that just accumulate — that’s all because that stuff goes directly into the wallet and people don’t notice.

John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

They could require a tutorial video, a quiz, retype the process verbatim and point to the toggle with big glowing arrows and people will still mess it up and blame Anet.

Do you deposit from the drop down menu or individually from each and every stack? Surely the “thousands” of deposit clicks you are doing is over a period of a week or so right and not something you have to do daily. Well not if you are using the drop down deposit at least anyway.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

Odd, I can deposit account-bound Materials. Perhaps, your client is in need of a -repair?

Of course, if you are referring to some materials that don’t have a slot in Material Storage, that would be something entirely different. But, those aren’t all account-bound, anyway.

Good luck.

Account bound mats don’t deposit? Most of mine do. Bloodstone dust, empyreal fragments, etc, all deposit. Are you sure you have room in your collections tabs for them?

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I think Illconceived’s point regarding us humans and the nature of rewards is more true than most people realize.

It’s like Christmas… yes, you can receive an un-wrapped gift that your parents just hand to you across the breakfast table. BUT… wasn’t it so much more exciting when you set your alarm to 5am so that you could run down to the tree and pull apart the unnecessarily over-wrapped present?

The 1st scenario is more practical and convenient (esp when it comes to who packs away the tree in January/Febuary/March/… June O_o), but the 2nd feels a lot more rewarding.

I can’t help noticing the irony of your statement. You’re also complaining about this exact thing in another thread.

So fix the mystic forge so that isn’t an issue and spare us the clicking.

TBH your whole OP was very vague and so too have been your replies. People have been trying to help you here and you have been making it hard for them. :P

So if you HAVE been depositing by doing so on each individual stack the problem is already solved for you. Use the drop down menu.

‘Gear’ as in cogwheel, or ‘gear’ as in armor/weapons/etc.? It’s unclear; I thought it was referring to armor, etc. Especially before the OP edit.

But you see, you can not deposit wearable gear by clicking on it, so it rules out this meaning. So you can read, just cannot make deductions.

Vagueness and lack of coherence is a problem not with the reader, but with the author. Mocking people for your own faults is simply uncouth.

It would be like me showing my students the image below, and laughing at them for not being able to deduce the significance of what it proves.

Can you figure it out? It’s remarkably simple… (see how that’s unhelpful?)

Considering you used the word “Salvager” in your OP of course people will deduce you were posting about salvaging and then depositing.

Your fine analogy is invalid, as i did not used arcane stuff like sinuses and arcsinuses and all terms used were known.

Yes, it was a little vague but one can easily put together “deposit” and “gear symbol”.

Maybe it was part of the ‘patch’ for dragonite; who knows?

This comment applies equally to those posters that have a habit of insisting that their use of language effectively communicates their ideas, despite multiple responses that state otherwise.

Humpty Dumpty similarly couldn’t understand why people didn’t understand what he was trying to say. “When I use a word, it means just what I want it to mean, neither more nor less.”

John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

@paShadoWn.5723 When multiple people have issues understanding what you’re saying and not one poster can help those people out by saying what you’re saying in a different way, maybe it’s time to look at what you posted objectively and see how you can reword it so that it may be understood.
