It was only a matter of time before that unhinged sociopath – the Royal Terrace ‘Greeter’ – inflicted a blow so forceful that it killed someone… a child no less!

This NPC has wrought terror for long enough. It’s time for Anet to accept responsibility and be held accountable for employing this thug and murderer.

….

But on a more serious note, do we really have to be jettisoned from the Royal Terrace everytime when logging in. Can’t having the royal terrace in our inventory be enough to allow access?

On a serious note it does seem odd to be kicked out even if you have the pass. Perhaps if they make it a passive thing instead of an item in your inventory?

I can say it brought me much jubilation to see the second photo.

While sad, that is less tragic than the Captain’s Airship Pass. Any young Quaggan discovered logging in there is summarily hurled over the side and has to endure an entire extra loading screen as he falls to his death.

To be fair, there are some habitually unscrupulous Quaggans that make it their business to intrude where they are not permitted. For them, the afterlife holds a special Hell:

As far as I know this has been the case since the Royal Terrace was introduced – to get through the barrier you need to have the pass equipped, but oddly enough you can equip your weapons again once inside. Its not that big a deal (except for quagganicide) – I just wanted to have a little fun with it… but it would be nice to have the mechanic altered so that just having the terrace pass in your inventory is enough … or perhaps turn the pass into a consumable that permanently unlocks access?

Regardless, I just want this ‘Greeter’ to see justice.

As far as the mechanics of both the Terrace AND the Airship, my best guess is that someone at ANet decided (for whatever reason) they just didn’t want people logging in and out from those places (even though they aren’t instanced). Maybe they figured that these are small areas and they would get too crowded or something, I dunno.

But although the Airship has an Activity NPC and the Terrace does not, I never use her because of the added pain of a double loading screen when I exit the Activity. (One loading screen to bring me to the Airship from the Activity, then it immediately goes into a second loading screen to send me back down to the ground in Gendarran Fields. And if I earned rewards in the Activity that I want to deposit in my Bank, I must endure a third loading screen to get back to the Airship where I just was!)

It’d be great if you asked around about this when you get back to work on Monday, Gaile! They are right – having a pass on my person should allow me to keep from getting booted out. And nobody would have to come to harm from Quaggans falling out of the sky onto their heads.

Now, shoo! Get back to enjoying your weekend!

It might be because you can actually sneak into the terrace without a pass (Not by going through the checkpoint). I’ve done it a couple of times, before the terrace guard catches me and kicks me out. Kinda funny.

I’m pleased that I’m not the only one who absolutely despises quaggans.

I don’t despise quaggans, really.

When I first read of them, I thought they’d be a great race. Quaggans have a lot of potential. They’re culturally passive, forced into a time and place that requires fighting for survival, but the reason they’re culturally passive is tied to biological berserking. There was a lot of potential in this.

But all that potential got reduced to a single skill challenge and a single story step which you have a 1 in 2 chance to get it during a specific storyline which in turn is a 3 in 5 chance of being allowed to pick – but within that 3, it’s a 1 in 3 chance of being the storyline you chose.

The reason I hate quaggans is their over use of cuteness. All open world stuff dealing with them is 99.9% protecting the weak and cute blubberballs. They’re overused in the backpacks, and miniatures, are used as cuteness devices during every holiday (Halloween and Four Winds especially). There’s the put-in-pointlessly Bloomaloo and Penelopee. There’s that bloody finisher. The irrelevant tonics from during Escape from/Battle for Lion’s Arch. And then there’s that utterly ridiculous ad that I see everywhere I go online with the baby quaggan going “can you find fishy” (feed the quaggan the fish!).

Then the overuse of them in the community as cutenesses just adds salt to it.

If they weren’t so overused, I wouldn’t have an issue with quaggans. Especially if they weren’t made into Tyria’s punching bag.

They could change the system to set a flag in your account (just like if you’re a normal player or dde/heroic player). To get that flag you would have to use (consume) the Permanent Access, otherwise you’ll get kicked out. All the players with 2 week passes would still get kicked out, but the permanent pass players would no longer get kicked.
Since the pass is consumed in the process they’d need to sell Portal stones at a vendor inside the terrace

…like it’s really sporting to be able to bag a Quaggan. They’re slow moving, slow witted, they’re all over the place, and they’re overly-trusting.
