BL skins for the new Collectibles AP
Meh, I believe most of us expect the BL items to be in there somewhere. I’m semi-pleased that they are their own category and don’t seem to be mixed in with the general ‘in game’ stuff. This means that those that don’t want to bother with that category don’t have to, and don’t have to worry that not doing so will screw up normal collecting.
As for ‘discontinued’…everything rolls back around eventually. Yes, it will bump the prices for a while, but that might not necessarily be a bad thing.
srsly? shop achievements? gg.
srsly? shop achievements? gg.
Like we don’t have them already? Armor / Outfit collector achievements? Mini collector achievements? C’mon now. This isn’t new.
Besides, it’s not like those shop items can’t be purchased legitimately through the game (via gold on the TP or through gold to gems depending on which is the more efficient means).
It looks like some of the rewards for the BL items collections may be Black Lion Tickets. So it’s a way to get some of the tickets back that you spent.
Everyone saw that coming, soon there will be 80% gemstore oriented stuff in the game, and we reach Gemstore Wars 2. #gg

I know, seriously.
People are just whining for the sake of whining.
Everyone knew going into GW2 that there would be quite a lot of gem-store related stuff going on, otherwise how did they expect to fund the game?
Seriously people, use some common sense
and OMG, BL skins are counted as an achievement?!!?!
Obviously this is a case of pay to win, where I lose out on those precious achievement points. /s
Though I expected this, it still troubles me. It doesn’t trouble me enough to get my pitchfork out, but it’s that whole shifting line thing. How far can you shift the line before people get annoyed/angry.
I can see why people would be apprehensive about this.

Yea, as the financial reports show they really had a hard time paying their bills withouth that many shop based achievements. I hope they can afford at least a steak on the weekend soon.

why is it troubling? how is the line shifting? bl skins are in the wardrobe, this is nothing new.

I really for appearances sake that they do not nerf the key run at the same time as adding this. That would look really bad.

Pretty sure they’re doing both at the same time.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

I think the issue for me is that if you’re an achievement hunter, you’re pressured to get black lion skins. I guess it is the same for the wardrobe completionists, but there’s something about making a point system, putting up a leaderboard for it, making it so everyone can see your point total (no one can see what’s in your wardrobe)…it’s quite subtle, but it’s pressure.
I’m not going to be pressured to get every skin, but for some people it’s going to be very hard to resist.
It may not make a difference to anyone else, but I perceive one.

Well the key run is nerfed no matter what, because you’ll have to level to 10 to unlock the personal story. I don’t think you’ll be able to start it right away.
From a storytelling point of view, this is definitely preferable.
Is that confirmed or just expected speculation?

It was at least implied in this article:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-fresh-start-the-new-player-experience-in-guild-wars-2/
The line is:
Personal Story
As another addition with the level-up guide, we’re updating the personal story steps using our new Story Journal so they come in story chunks that unlock all at once per chapter. When a story chapter is unlocked as a level-up reward, you’ll be able to play straight through the entire chapter from start to finish and not have any awkward starts and stops that throw off the storyline. In this way, story chapters become another big moment to look forward to earning and unlocking as your character levels up.
Besides achievement points, what are the rewards? Is it a matching back skin for the weapons or something else?
The line will just continue to move and the sheeple will continue to defend the line as they run after it.
The game is in financial trouble, expect an acceleration of the line firmly into the P2W category.
This is just the next logical progression of the gem store eroding away the game.

This game is so far from financial trouble, it’s not even funny. There’s a whole lot of things wrong with this game, but financially it’s doing fine.
Well one thing they are doing very well…trying to push a die hard fan of the franchise like myself away from their game.

I think the main concern is if they will remove the key from the lvl 10 story reward. Nothing is said definitively either way regarding that. If the key is not removed, it won’t ‘kill’ the run, it just won’t be as fast considering new characters will have to level to 10, rather than just load and go. Still, it’s only a matter of time before someone posts a guide to do it efficiently.
Beyond that, I think the grouping of stories by their chapters is a good thing (although I’m sort of iffy on making the first story arc not available until you’re level 10, that’s just…uncomfortable from an rpg standpoint). The story does become more cohesive, and a bit less shallow? Crappy? Pick your poison. If you do it in chapter chunks, rather than doing 1, level 3 times, doing another one, and so on.

Perhaps you can explain this to me, then.
How is awarding Achievement Points for Black Lion weapon skins any different than awarding Achievement Points for collecting Miniatures? When the game launched, the Miniature Collection achievements and resulting Miniature Collector title existed.
If the Black Lion skins weren’t tradable, then yeah, that would be a moving line. They weren’t tradable at first. Now they are. So where’s the moving line? What if Mjolnir is part of a collection, does that make it worse because it’s more expensive than any Black Lion skin?

You’d be terrible at running a business if you let your guard down just because you had a great quarter.
Thanks for making the achievement pay to win. The miniature collector achievements we had were borderline already, but you were able to pass them around to friends at least.
There are 16 sets of black lion weapon sets if I counted correctly. I can see that costing 100k gold to get soon with the key farming nerf and the terrible droprates of tickets.

The thing I found lame was that it was for certain types of BL weapons. It should just be having a certain number across all the sets. There isn’t a single set of BL weapons that I like across the board, so now I need to spend real money or copious amounts of gems gambling on Black Lion Chests for rewards or buying skins I don’t like off the BLTC?
Gross.
It should have been a collection of any 8 or 16 skins. That way your collection can be the stuff you like. Whatever though, I don’t chase achievements I don’t like or find gross so I will just chalk this up to that. The lame part for me is I own like 20 BL Weapons but they are across the spectrum of skins.
I don’t see the problem here. Achievements are being added for YOUR usages. You are not required to buy BL stuff. You are not hampered in any way by not doing the achievements. But because your neighbor drives a yellow volkswagen and you simply hate yellow, you feel it is unfair and should not be allowed…….yeah……someone needs to take his yellow car away.

And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Who even cares about AP ?
As long as owning BL weapons does not reward you with a precursor, some players are over dramatizing this.
So, AP for Dragons Jade, Wintersday, Zodiac, and Sclerite.
3 of these sets are gone from the Gemstore, and Zodiac weapons are 5 tickets. These sets are not in order, I believe the fused weapons would be on the list if anet was concerned about the order.
This leads me to believe that this achievement is a stunt to prop up prices for under demanded skins and not a sign to come that we will get free AP for our Fused/Tormented/Ley Line/Halloween/Phoenix/Chaos skins that we bought because, you know, they look good.

I do care since I am competing in the top 25 of the achievement points. So far I never had to buy any gems (only did for cosmetic stuff which did not help with achievements at all until this point, never traded gems for gold) to compete there. Now I might have to spend thousands of € to keep being able to compete in the top 25, depending on if the competitors boycot these pay to win achievements or not.

there are tracks for all sets, but you need at least one skin of the set for the track to become visible.

First it was just AP for mini’s, which I denounced as a slippery slope back in beta, in multiple threads. People said I was ridiculous, and that was the slippery slope fallacy and I should crawl back into my hole….
Now it is mini’s AND weapons, and people will undoubtedly say the exact same thing to me now. Next year it will be mini’s and weapons AND armor… and so on and so forth. Each step just far enough apart that people who complain are shouted down by the reasoning, “we already have this, so what’s wrong with that?”
I’m not going to argue any further after this. I’ve pointed it out, denounced it, and will never buy another Black Lion chest again, just like I never bought a mini pack. I hope other people will do the same, and stop this progression at this point instead of allowing it to go further.
ridiculous achievements, thats all i have to say about this BLW crap, stuff thats made extra only to ruin the prices of those weapons and driven them even more into absolute unreachable heights for like 99% of a players. Soon these weapons will have prices like half of a legendary I guess…
Anet cant be serious. That they always must absolutely overexaggerate it somehow and must put somethign in, where its dead sure that it will upset extremely alot of their players, as if theyx do this willingly to create just on purpose the next peep storm
And do you know all ,whats the most ridiculous fact about all ths???
Anet does always so, as if the games economy would be so important and on the other side they always make one time after another lately those gross changes, which lead to catastrophal item price changes which totaly screw over the whole game economy and all players, which are too poor to be anyhow able to follow and adapt to such extreme changes…
its ridiculous, no, more.. this is madness, pure madness ….
how long does anet expect the average player to grind gold for all these things until such a collection should be complete?? 10 years? 20 years? longer?
Or do they expect from us to pump into the game suddenly thousands of euros, just to speed up the collections. Are they holding us for such crazy people???
