Taking one slot in Black Lion Chest. Tried both with “dropped” and bought keys – same result. Is it because both types of keys were obtained during the Wintersday?

It’s because the “slot” which is free btw, is a seasonal slot. When Cantha new year hits, it’ll change.

You can always and easily ‘preview’ any Black Lion Chest to see what the current seasonal slot holds.

I must say, I don’t like this change. Sure a booster isn’t the best roll, but a booster is still 10 times better and more useful than a ToT bag or a wintersday gift. And with the Lunar patch we will most likely get a Lucky Red Envelope instead, which contains what? a sellable trophy and some consumable luck.

While I agree with you about the boosters, keep in mind many people considered them a waste of a drop out of the boxes.

Also, a seasonal offering actually doesn’t take away the chances of getting the special items from the chest. They show up as a bonus 4th drop.

That’s kind of the issue, people were complaining about something that wasn’t optimal, and anet just kinda responded with: you think this is bad? wait until I do THIS

And the bonus drop is actually pretty rare, I mean, 1 in 10/15 keys

Yes, but that’s the same rate that you get the item anyway, and now it’s a 4th drop, not one of the three.

The simple fact is they can’t please everyone. While I personally like the boosters as I save them for LS and expansion times I do make a good bit of gold selling things that I get from the seasonal drop, so it doesn’t seem like anything bad at all.
